How can one tell if you have a "third eye?"?

I'm from the Philippines, and when I was eight we went to this faith healer/psychic [and possibly others]; and throughout the session, she picked up these details and facts [accurately and dead on] about us when we barely gave anything away. Somewhere along the meeting, she asked my mom if I was a brave girl, and my mom responded with a yes; the faith healer/psychic then said that I had a "third eye," though it wasn't fully open.

The third eye is often associated with visions, clairvoyance, precognition, and out-of-body experiences, and people who have allegedly developed the capacity to use their third eyes are sometimes known as seers. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_eye]

Any opinions on how she might've known?

If you were born in a radiation zone and all the other kids laugh and point at you and say "there goes the 3-eyed girl!  Hahahahaha!" then you know for sure.

Seriously, though, there is no point in asking if you're only going to accept answers that agree with what you already believe.  You are also wrong in thinking that people who tell you that there are no such things are taking "jabs" at you.  In a few cases they may be, but in most cases they genuinely want to help you.  Most of us know what it feels like to be duped, and we don't want to see it happen to others.

Also, you're asking this in the "science" section.  I know it's under alternative, but it's still a subset of science.  Therefore it's going to be seen by more people who are interested in science than people who are interested in magic and psychics and ghosts and all that stuff.

For me my third eye seems to work on and off, and I have been aware at times when it opens and closes. At those time that I were aware was when I were asleep. The third eye opening has a lot to do with spirits coming near. My eye would open when asleep especially when my spirit guide would come near, I would be able to see her and communicate as we would at times communicate telepathy. always when it became to comforting, I can feel it close. At times I would wake up completely to see them and still communicate. I have done things most people haven't experienced, and that I've never thought were possible until it happened. Even had OBE's, astral travel and seen and communicated with spirits.

I at time would have visions that would come true minutes later down to the same detail, they usually come as warnings for me. I have seen spirits and ghost since age four, it seems to get very strong on and off, at times seeing many different ones. These abilities seem to be in the blood line on my mothers side going way back. At times It just happens to where peoples thoughts pop in my head. I would know when something bad is about to happen depending how my body would react.

What I ascertain through it all, like....the third eye, visions, ESP, OBE, and other abilities usually has something to do with spirits around us, as they do connect with one of our senses. This is my perspective from my experiences.

When you have these abilities things just come to you, you sense things strong enough that you know.

shes a psychic.  i think i half a half closed third eye, cause i am 70% correct when i guess certain things, like on Entertainment tonight when they ask those questions, i almost always get them right. and sometimes i would think of an episode of a show, then later that episode would come on. its cool

Every human being has a third eye. Its more a case of whether its open or not.

The Third Eye Chakra (6th of 7 main chakras)

Located in the center of the forehead. It governs the pituitary gland, the lower brain and nervous system, the ears, nose and eyes. It is how we see things both physically and intuitively. When developed, this chakra improves our intuitive abilities and our understanding of archetypal levels and helps us to see clearly "see the big picture."  It is perceived as the colour indigo.

Its quite common for small children to appear to be more open then adults so she would have known that as well. Probably you said something to her or reacted to something she said in a way that made her think you were more open then the average child.

ppl with the the gift can often sense eachother. I think it probably has someting to do with the energy we produce, just like we sense the energy of a spirit, we can sense eachother

The same way that you "know" things that you should not.  One spiritual person can usually sence another.  This lady had years of trusting her senses, understanding her gift and reading the "vibes" of those who came to her.  How?  Faith and trust in things that cannot be known with only 5 sences...

They used their imaginary third eye to imagine that you had a third eye.

Unless you are a reptile, in which case you may actually have a light sensing organ which fits that description.

The fact that your mother went to those sort of places alerted them to the fact that she and you would be willing to believe and in fact welcome that sort of hocus pocus.

And no doubt now you do consider yourself to be a bit special and thus have proved their prophecy?
