  1. I also run sound at my church. Have been for 4 years. Very good at it not to brag!

First of all you have monitor controls that will control the level of, you guessed it the monitors. When I say monitors I think you know what I mean. Feedback of all the instruments to the band.

Then you will more than likely have the tuning board controls. Keep the high voices set lower and the lows set mid range. This balances out vocal patterns. If you cup your hands to cover everything but the back of your ears it helps when fine tuning voices.

Then you have your mains and/or pan for left and right main speakers. If you have sub channels you will be able to control any one channel separately using 400MHZ 8 OHM control. Usually marked with 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 and so on...

You will also have a main control. AKA Master Volume!!! AS far as a tip for that. If your on a really cool song (ie: Undignified, or Dancing Generation, or Grace Like Rain) where a crescendo is beginning you can draw up your main to make the sound louder without blowing everyones ears out! haha.

But the main trick to tuning and really hearing what other people hear is to cup your ears while facing the speakers. Really helps!

    Hope this helps you,
