  1. a six pack will help

  2. The same thing happens to me sometimes when I tell jokes. I can always make myself laugh so I don't take it so personal b/c you have to understand that not everybody will understand your humor. You're probably hysterical so don't let people who are not witty enough make you think otherwise.

  3. Picture yourself out and about, with friends or not, doesnt matter.

What do you want people to think of you when they see you?

How about "wow she's really nice" or "I wish I could be as outgoing as she is"

just visualize yourself as how you want to be and make it happen,

small steps make for big change :-)

  4. a.Try out other roles than the funny entertainer. People may prefer a good listener, or somebody to explain calculus  or someone good at soccer, or...whatever.

You may have become to driven & to one sided and therefore difficult to relate to as a friend.

b.Improve your game.Become a better entertainer: find or think up other jokes or more or less tasteful jokes, improve timing, vocal variety, learn story telling skills, etc. (www.stumbleupon.com has lots of preselected humor pages.)

c.Ask your friends (or dwindling audience?) what they feel about you. Then you are not speculating anymore.

You are probably not shy. Maybe you just need to be less one sided.

I will give you an excellent book title anyway.
