  1. Generally, if people they're British, they're either English or support Glasgow Rangers.

Practically everyone else calls themselves Scottish/ Welsh/ Irish.

My sister lives in France, down in Albi. Her and her husband speak fluent French, she teaches English and he's a doctor. Now, they've been assumed to be English before, because they speak English to each other. However, when they correct this assumption and tell people they're Scottish people smile and everything's fine.

I know from what she's told me that English people in France tend to stick together and the standard attitude is one of 'we speak English, you should too.' Understandable that it's not appreciated.

Please remember, Scotland and France were allies long before Britain existed. Entente Cordiale. And the Hundred Years War was against England, not Britain.

  2. We fill the same about you.At least our streets dont smell like p**s

  3. we British only just equal the French in arrogance, even this question is arrogant as is my answer

  4. T'as pas l'air bien toi, hein ?! T'as pris tes calmants ?

I'm glad to announce that this guy happily doesn't represent French people. So don't answer him, thanx. I know it's funny but... Cheers

  5. I think you should be grateful for what we did for you 60 years ago.

  6. I agree , their behaviour is disgusting , throughout the world .

  7. It is true, the Brits abroad are generally ignorant and arrogant.

And when you add football "fans" into the mix, the problems are multiplied.

However, the French are not known for their tolerance are they?

    as for arrogance....

and it;s not JUST when we are in France - it's everywhere we go (however, I do not act like this)

It would be nice for foreigners in France to be encouraged though - when we do try and speak French instead of shouting loudly in English, many times we get a blank look)

  8. Because France never thanked us for WW2.

    Joke!

    But not really.

Late edit: I love the thumbs-down guys.

  9. ahh i see, your talking about football fans... very sorry but we don't even like them over here (the classic British football Hooligan/Moron) so please don't judge our country on those few with their skin heads, love of beer and shouting inaudible songs...

  10. Some Brit's ( including those of the Celtic Fringe) now be aggressive and/or ignore rules when abroad especially those who travel in packs as football fans and on stag parties etc. However the majority of us who travel in smaller groups are polite, not aggressive ( this isn't normally even the stereotypical brit) and always obedient to rules.

( we even pay our taxes). Some people let down every nation, it doesn't mean we are all like it. We are dreadful at languages however, and shouldn't expect everyone to speak english.

  11. Excuse me....surely you mean English, not British...We Welsh, Scots and Northern Irish don't behave like that. We are Celts!

Nous sommes très agréable et nous pouvons parler votre langue (un peu), pas comme les Anglais.

  12. I regret to say I concur with your view.

I am often saddened to see British people behaving as they can and do. I often stay silent in restaurants and hotels for fear they will recognise a fellow Brit and come over to us. Or I speak in French. That confuses them :)

Not all British are like that however, so you may rest assured that there are some good ones too

  13. Close thy gob you pungent amphibian.

  14. I think you have a very stereo-typical view of British people. Open your eyes and stop being so naive and blinkered.

  15. Doesn't matter.

They are 100% better than any French Frog I've ever had the displeasure in meeting.

  16. Sorry but where I live in France, in Bretagne where there are quite a lot of UK citizens, I never saw what you complain about ! I think they drive good and slowly (sometimes too slowly). They are correct and friendly. And about football supporters, I just hate football and can't stand any football-supporters who show too much their passion for this (bloody) sport.
