How can people in America help prevent the next terrorist attack in the homeland?

Just a reminder that many brave military personnel are working very hard to secure peace in the Middle East. There's a lot of instability in Iraq and Afghanistan, and regional leaders are risking their lives to share information with reporters. This question is in regards to what citizens and residents here, enjoying relative calm, can do as preventive measure to such disaster. What can al-Quaida accomplish if the country diligently watches the neighborhoods?

  1. Take our country back.

  2. You don't think people in Bagdad aren't "watching" their neighborhoods?  There are almost 200 attacks a day in Iraq.  Under the eyes of the military and civilian populations.

If someone wants to blow themselves up, there is little anyone can do about it; they'll find a way.

If someone wants to destroy a landmark, they'll figure out a way like McVey did.

You figure out a way to watch and identify "terrorists" and you will be one very wealthy person.

    g-day!

  3. muzzle nancy pelosi and harry reid.  cut and run is naked raw cowardice and truly emboldens al qaeda.

  4. stop committing mass  murder and torture, while stealing other countries reasources.

  5. We prevent attacks on US soil by aggressively pursuing the enemy overseas.

We create situations (like Iraq) where Al Quaeda doctrine requires them to face our soldiers on the battlefield instead of our civilians at home.

In fact the recent failed terrorist attacks in Great Britain are an example of the success of our present policy.  in 2004 I watched - on a live video feed - Al Quaeda's top car-bomb expert die.  As a result of his death (and the death of virtually all of AQs specialists and operations planners) terror cells in Europe no longer get the advice and training that they need to conduct effective operations.

  6. Nice sunday brunches on the front lawn and invite all the countries of the world over...  is that a soft enough answer for you...?

  7. I really don't think there is anything you can do besides joining the service and knowing what is really going on in our government. We are not safe and we are less safe now than on 9/11. Bush has done everything to make matters worse. Maybe impeaching Bush and Cheney will help to get our country back on track.

  8. In reality, there is not much that can really be done without infringing on your "right to privacy."  Unless the terrorist makes a stupid move, or someone gets lucky spotting an incident in progress (such as the London incident), they will likely get through with the attack.  Whether they get caught or not is still up for grabs.

Unfortunately, the only way for the public to truly be better protected, is to surrender part of their "privacy." While that may make you safer from some threats, it opens a very bad doorway for someone in authority to abuse.

  9. Stop burying there head in the sand, and stop being touchy feely when it comes to survival.

  10. The terrorist attack in London was averted by ambulance drivers, because they noticed smoke coming from one of the cars that was set to explode.

All we can do is try to be as perceptive as possible.

Al-Qaida can still do quite a bit.  Most of what they plan is behind closed doors.

They don't exactly have "Terrorist" plastered across their foreheads.

It would not be very hard for one to cause a WHOLE LOT of damage without anyone noticing what he was up to.  That is why the War on Terror is about the most difficult undertaking that the World has ever pursued.

Just keep your eyes open, and try to read between the lines when you notice something out of the ordinary.

That is all we can do.

  11. We need to secure our borders!  It doesn't matter if the next President is Rep. or Dem.

We as citizens of the United States need to look and watch for illegal activities.

You can sum it up as racial profiling if you want. This is America where you are free to worship as you please. The lives of my spouse and my children are worth allot more to me that being called a racist.

America needs to stop being so politically correct and realize that there are people crossing our borders who don't want to melt in the "Melting Pot". We need to ALWAYS be on the lookout for them and report them to the appropriate authorities.

  12. A great question and maybe we should add.  "How can people in America help prevent the next American invasion of a sovereign nation?"

  13. stop doing things that get the whole world mad at us for starters.

  14. Nothing.

The terrorists will do some thing larger than 9/11.

Two major U.S. citys will probably be nuked.

    how you ask?

their are nukes that can fit in suit cases.

seriously I saw a documentary on it.

  15. By voting straight ticket Republican in all future elections!!
