How can people make their dogs or cats stay outside?

That sounds like making your children stay outside. My cats shed and I vacuum once a week but my cats are living souls. My furniture and rug is are not living souls.

It's real simple. I keep the door closed and don't let them in. I might even kick them if they try to push it. COME ON!!! Your the big person here. It's just a cat... or dog...

If you want a pet , then why u r keeping it outsie?  In my india we treat pets someone like a dear one...we love them. how could one can do this?

Some dogs are ment to be outside dogs and therefore they can withstand harsher living conditions than others. Im not saying that this is good thing to do infact i totally disagree with this but with  a proper outdoor kennel and such with frequent inside visit outdoor live can be suffice. i actually belive that once an indoor dog/cat always an indoor dog/cat and vise versa

Why would you want them to stay outside?pets are supposed to be a part of your family.Bring them in and enjoy them!

Why have a pet if you just banish it to solitary confinement outside.  I have several cats and a dog and vacuum either every day or every other day.  We are all very happy and the house is clean.

I don't understand how people can declaw their kitties either! It's so mean and cruel that it's outlawed in many other countries!

I agree with you, we have big hairy beasts of kitties but we don't mind their hair, they're so sweet it's worth it.
