Question:

How can people migrate to Australia by living in New Zealand first?

I have some African friends who would love to come to Australia to live and work. Immigration laws make this very difficult for them and I have heard that if you go to New Zealand first and stay there for a certain time you can come and go here in Australia as you wish. Does anyone know about this - how hard is it to get to New Zealand, how long before you can move to Australia (if you still want to) and what is the best way to go about it all?

  1. you have to be a permanent resident of new zealand so you dont gain anything by going there first as its just as hard to immigrate there as it is to Australia

  2. It used to be the case that New Zealand could be used as an easy entry into Australia.  But New Zealand immigration have changed their rules, so it longer works that way.

It is now easier to apply direct to the country you wish to end up in.

  3. Permanent residents of NZ can move to Australia. However it is equally difficult to immigrate to NZ as it is to Oz, so there are no ways to get around it I'm afraid.

  4. It doesnt matter where your from, you still have to follow the same immigration rules.

All moving to NZ first would do is make the process twice as hard and twice as long.

  5. u must be nz permanent resident for 5 years ,then u apply for nz citizenship[ take another 6-8 months] checking if u been good boy and if u been then u get nz passport and then u can move to australia . if u are permanent res.; u cannot live in aust, becouse u still have only passport of your contry . u can only visit [ ask for visa] . so some answers above that u must be permanent res.of nz and u can live in austr. are wrong !

  6. Look, there's a reason why it's hard for people with nothing to offer us to gain residency. People like this will achieve nothing other than lowering our quality of life if they immigrate here.

Please do not help them find dis-honourable and sneaky ways of getting into our fair nation and living off of it like ticks, taking and taking but never giving anything back.
