  1. I've read the science from both sides of the argument, and I believe that man-made global warming is a load of BS.  I don't feel like going and searching for some specific links for you, so I'll direct you to globalwarminghoax.com .

That is a good site that posts current news and new scientific studies in favor of natural climate change.

  2. because nature knows how to do these things. we've been here for billions of years. its evolution. things adapt to the environment. just think before the ice age, its very hot. no ice caps. all that water was somewhere. and it froze. just as simple.people want to believe in things

  3. Its not that we don't believe that the Earth has warmed, and I don't even doubt that human produced CO2 has had some part in the recent warming, but idea that it is the main driver of the recent warming hasn't exactly been shown conclusively ( being nice there). We just don't know enough about our climate to rule out things like the sun, GCRs, clouds, and ocean circulations as major players in this warming. That is why the IPCC rates the ‘level of scientific understanding’ of ’solar irradiance’ as ‘low.’ For other solar factors it is ‘very low'.

  4. b/c the earth goes through cycles. the sun is the hottest its been it 10 years. soooo nobody actually knows whats goin on

  5. according to a CBS report ( I couldn't find the source sorry), the earth is cooling off in the last 30 years.

  6. people dont think it is going to happens in their generation, so they dont care they seem to think that they will be dead and buried b4 anything happens.

HOW WRONG THEY ARE   because it has already started

  7. i think that some people who dont care about it think it is not really happening .. until you start caring then you wake up and realize its really happening ...and think " why did'nt i care earlier''.

  8. Good question. Call up a republican.

  9. b/c it's not real!  where is your proof that "global warming" is anything but  the earth's natural cycle!  the earth goes through warming AND cooling periods, and we just happen to be going through a warm one right now!  honestly, if Al Gore had never started his little "stop 'global warming'" campaign, would you even care about it or even "know" about it? no!  b/c the only reason people like you think it is real is b/c he told you to!!!!  wake up and use that brain of yours to do some real research!  however, that doens't mean we shouldn't care about our planet.  finding alternative feuls is of course a good idea, but the fact that we're running out has nothing to do with "global warming" but only with the fact that there are too many freaking people in the world!

  10. Ignorance.

    Specifically, willful ignorance.

When faced with the reality that man is the cause, that our very way of life is the cause, many embrace a schizophrenic split in the mind rather than accept an Inconvenient Truth.

Can you blame them?  It's more than inconvenient, it's a staggering realization that changes everything.

When you confront the beliefs of the ignorant, the first reaction is violent denial.

  11. because it isn't real

  12. because some are brainwashed by rich politicians that are getting rich from the oil which is producing so much CO2 and cutting down forests for money.

there is also the belief of global diming (look it up its actually an interesting pt) basically saying that global warmiing is being balanced by the global diming or darkening of the earth because our clouds are becoming thicker from pollution and other chemicals which makes sunlight less able to hit the earth...there are other concepts too.

there is no doubt though, by all scientists that global warming is happening, they are just arguing about what the cause is and how to change it, or whether to change our ways at all.

  13. because THEY REFUSE TO ACCEPT THE FACT THAT WE ARE CAUSING it. and the most interesting thing is why do they think this way. or maybe THEY HAVE LOW LEVEL OF AWARENESS.

"IT IS DIFFICULT TO GET A MAN TO UNDERSTAND SOMETHING IF HIS SALARY DEPENDS UPON HIS NOT UNDERSTANDING IT."  -uptom sinclair

If you take time to follow these links you along too may choose to not believe.   There are several good books out there as well but I can't imagine you would read them

  15. It is not that we do not believe in global warming, it is that we do not believe that man is primarily responsible, and if left unchecked this warming will be catastrophic.

  16. They fail to factor a large contributer to harmful emissions, the earth itself. The largest producers of methane are wet lands and swamps. Geothermal and Geological events release thousands of tons of carbon dioxide and sulfur on every eruption. Volcanoes release rock particials into the atmosphere which block out the sun, which also contain gases from the surface.

  17. Right on for Bob!  Nice links.

Hey another factor to consider:  It's cool to buck the majority!  I mean think about where these people get their "education".  Talk Radio.  And what has always been TR's claim to fame--- giving you the "news" and "common sense" straight talk you won't hear from the "LIBERAL MEDIA."

Now this has bled over to telivision (FOX NEWS), newspapers owned by Rupert Murdock (ALL OF THEM) and of course the internet.  These cats are great at what they do which is somehow convince their clone listeners that they are cool, hip trend-buckers whose mission is to spread the REAL truth.

So now that most folks are on board with the whole "dang, we just might be s******g up our planet" thing and it's starting to affect people's wallets and causing them to seek alternatives -- well that just doesn't sit well with the "status quo" (read: conservative - it means "resisting change").  So they crank up the engines on their so called "news radio" -- it appeals to people because they can feel like rebels.

I remember during the Reagan era - you were cool if you thought trickle down economics was a joke.  You read Che Guevera and disdained imperalism to demonstrate you were part of the hip, intelligista.

Well now the RIGHT has captured that powerful essence.  Now it's cool to listen to Hanity and disdain... the earth... it's cool to be a "skeptic" - it's considered elite and hip to think this way and these folks pat themselves on the back daily for "bucking the system."

    UH... yeah... right.

I dunno about you all, but I still love people who hate people who love the earth.  They need our help!

  18. Watch this and you will realize why people don't believe in Global Warming. It is a bit long (58 mins) and is not really an 'action' movie but it is really interesting. You will see how a few people can manipulate so many, much as they did when denying tobacco smoking causes cancer.

  19. The Truth About Denial

    By Sharon Begley

    Newsweek

    Aug. 13, 2007

Sen. Barbara Boxer had been chair of the Senate's Environment Committee for less than a month when the verdict landed last February. "Warming of the climate system is unequivocal," concluded a report by 600 scientists from governments, academia, green groups and businesses in 40 countries. Worse, there was now at least a 90 percent likelihood that the release of greenhouse gases from the burning of fossil fuels is causing longer droughts, more flood-causing downpours and worse heat waves, way up from earlier studies. Those who doubt the reality of human-caused climate change have spent decades disputing that. But Boxer figured that with "the overwhelming science out there, the deniers' days were numbered." As she left a meeting with the head of the international climate panel, however, a staffer had some news for her. A conservative think tank long funded by ExxonMobil, she told Boxer, had offered scientists $10,000 to write articles undercutting the new report and the computer-based climate models it is based on. "I realized," says Boxer, "there was a movement behind this that just wasn't giving up."

If you think those who have long challenged the mainstream scientific findings about global warming recognize that the game is over, think again. Yes, 19 million people watched the "Live Earth" concerts last month, titans of corporate America are calling for laws mandating greenhouse cuts, "green" magazines fill newsstands, and the film based on Al Gore's best-selling book, "An Inconvenient Truth," won an Oscar. But outside Hollywood, Manhattan and other habitats of the chattering classes, the denial machine is running at full throttle—and continuing to shape both government policy and public opinion.

Since the late 1980s, this well-coordinated, well-funded campaign by contrarian scientists, free-market think tanks and industry has created a paralyzing fog of doubt around climate change. Through advertisements, op-eds, lobbying and media attention, greenhouse doubters (they hate being called deniers) argued first that the world is not warming; measurements indicating otherwise are flawed, they said. Then they claimed that any warming is natural, not caused by human activities. Now they contend that the looming warming will be minuscule and harmless. "They patterned what they did after the tobacco industry," says former senator Tim Wirth, who spearheaded environmental issues as an under secretary of State in the Clinton administration. "Both figured, sow enough doubt, call the science uncertain and in dispute. That's had a huge impact on both the public and Congress."

Just last year, polls found that 64 percent of Americans thought there was "a lot" of scientific disagreement on climate change; only one third thought planetary warming was "mainly caused by things people do." In contrast, majorities in Europe and Japan recognize a broad consensus among climate experts that greenhouse gases—mostly from the burning of coal, oil and natural gas to power the world's economies—are altering climate. A new NEWSWEEK Poll finds that the influence of the denial machine remains strong. Although the figure is less than in earlier polls, 39 percent of those asked say there is "a lot of disagreement among climate scientists" on the basic question of whether the planet is warming; 42 percent say there is a lot of disagreement that human activities are a major cause of global warming. Only 46 percent say the greenhouse effect is being felt today.

  20. Many get their (mis) information from political sources.

You can see it in this thread, with some nonsense being stated.  The Sun is getting cooler, not hotter:

"Recent oppositely directed trends in solar

climate forcings and the global mean surface

air temperature", Lockwood and Frolich (2007), Proc. R. Soc. A

    doi:10.1098/rspa.2007.1880

    http://www.pubs.royalsoc.ac.uk/media/pro...

    News article at:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6290228.st...

And the Earth continues to get warmer over the long term, with occasional cool years:

  21. Why don't you look at the other answers. The reasons are debated and elaborated upon well enough there. Unless this is a rhetorical question, in which case, there would be no point in asking it.

  22. Some people are just stupid and do not want to face the truth that is right in front of their eyes.

  23. Anything that the environmentalist push with the help of big brother govt is easy to dismiss espec. if it is based on junk science and the fact man can not control the climate any more than we can travel to the stars in a single life time of one person.

Another way not to believe it when they want to tax, push more dangerous products (new merc. light bulbs) and generally put a price tag on fixing it. They themselves admit that if we implimented all the changes they suggest the temp MIGHT change one degree c.

This is a waste of time and people are getting tired of all this green stuff.

By no means do I promote pollution but CO2 is not a pollutant be key to plant life last time I checked.
