  1. only by pumping

    ,unless there are springs

  2. Hi. You have to drill or dig into it. Look up artesian well.

  3. The main way is to drill down to it - wells. The bottom line is they are water sources below us, some wells are 30 feet deep, some are 100 feet or more.  It depends on where you are.  They contain VERY clean water since they are filtered through dirt and it takes years. If you want more info, include where you are since aquifers are different throughout the world.  Good question though!

  4. I believe an aquifer is a source of water like a pond  or under ground river or the like. You can drill to the source and pump the water out.

  5. We have 80 acres of land that has an aquifer.  We also have a water well in the ground were we get our water from.  It serves three houses.  My mother-in-law brings over water jugs because she like our water better than city.

  6. Here in the country thats the only way we get house water. When building a new house we also get a drilling rig and drill into the earth 100's of feet until we hit an aquifer that's of sufficient size and has enough water pressure and then lay pipes up to the surface. This water then is connected into the house via a well pump. My well is 465 feet deep.
