How can people tell if a cat is theirs?

I have a kennel and I sold a cat that I didn't own, I have 3 weeks to find a replacement. Obviously it needs to look the same. How else can someone tell cats apart?

Has anyone reported you to the department of agriculture, do you have a license, and if you know ANYTHING about pets, you would not have posted such a stupid question. I think of people like you every time I have to euthanize a poor animal becaus eit does not have a home. Back yard nreeders and pet thieves, I hope78^%%4kf

that was a very mean thing to do....find out who you sold it to and GET IT BACK   every cat is very easily distinguishable   the owner will know if it is not their cat   OR Get some guts and tell them the truth...don't hide behind a mask and try to make everything okay.....be a human, and do the right thing......

what the h**l were you thinking?  i have two cats.  very different personalities.  i would know my cat obviously from the personality, how it acts with me and of course if it recognizes me.  

how the h**l can you have a kennel if you know nothing about animals?  i hope the owners of the cat shut you down.

You could blind fold me and put a cat in my arms, I'll still be able to tell if it's mine or not.

Fess up and maybe try to get their cat back. Otherwise, you're going to get into a lot of trouble.

Two suggestions:

A. Find the cat you sold and get it back.

OR

B.  Fess up to the owner and tell them what you did.

DO NOT try to replace the cat.  Any good pet owner will know right off  that its not their cat.   Then you will not only be in trouble for selling the cat...you'll be in trouble for lying too.

i don't think you will be able to do so sorry. i know every tiny spot on my cat. i know that her face is all grey except for a tic tac sized white spot on the right of her mouth. see how detailed us crazy cat people get.

there is also how cats act. my cat is very, very cuddly with me and most of the women in my family but hates men. she hates small children and other pets. she hates people food except for cheez its and chicken breast or beef.

she purrs ALL the d**n time ( very rare most cats rarely purr). she likes to sit on my shoulder and flick her tail in my face ( she's doing it now).

her meow has a distinct sound ect

my cousin actually has a cat thats my cats "twin". sisters that is and they look exactly alike to everyone except her and me. i've even cat sat for her and i can still tell mine apart by how she acts.

the best thing to do is to contact the person you sold this cat to and tell them you were not authorized to sell it but would gladly replace the cat and offer a full refund for the trouble.

i should also note that even if the person can not tell the difference their vet might notice.

seriously though try to contact the people who bought the cat. otherwise you could get sued or worse. if it was me and you sold my baby....
