    It explains how light interacting with the atmosphere can explain all sorts of weird and wonderful things we see.

    And that's just how things look. Applying physics and chemistry to the Earth's atmosphere we can understand all about why the prevailing winds go the way they do, why deserts are where they are, why there are cyclonic and anticylconic patterns etc etc.

    It's nearly all just physics
