guys..i have problem about this.. coz i need it on my physics class...our teacher told us to do an investigatory project on how physics can prevent global warming...and i don't have any idea about this matter....can you share me some of your ideas pls..!!!thank you!!!!

  1. I would like very much to help you, but there is no solution to a problem that does not exist.  The global warming theory produced by Al Gore is physically impossible.

    Here are some examples:

Average temperature rises 1 to 6 degrees:

Oceans expand causing ocean levels to rise.  Impossible!

Water expansion over a few degrees is barely measurable.

Proof: put a pot of water on a stove, and heat it.  Measure the change in water level.

Arctic ice melts causing ocean levels to rise.  Impossible!

    1. Temperatures vary 20 degrees in a day, 1 to 6 degrees makes no difference.

Proof: Check the weather.  Arctic Village, Alaska, today, High 60 Lo 40

    2. Ice melting does not cause water levels to rise.

If that were true ocean levels would change with the seasons.

Proof:  put ice in a glass; fill the glass with water to the top.  Wait for level to rise.

CO2 makes world temperature get hotter.  Impossible!

Proof:  CO2 is a naturally occurring gas that has no unique ability to pass heat only one way.

Sorry I cannot help, but Physics deals with how the world really works, not a fantasy movie designed to scare children.

I honestly think if you are interested in global warming and you want a science project, find ways to test what is said about global warming.

  2. Need to add nuclear and space based solar to the mix as they are the best long term answer to the energy problem for the future and the cleanest. Ground solar is good for personal savings and black out insurance if the grid gets over stressed because not enough power plants are being built to meet the needs of the consumer. Wind is the same as ground solar and can only be supplemental to nuclear because only in limited regions is it long term reliable.

  3. A couple of things. ONE: There is no global warming due to CO2, it is a scam like margarine was in the 1970s. Someone is making a ton of money off it.  If you look at an atmospheric absorption spectrum, you will see H2O is much more stronger of IR than is CO2. Also look at it this way: The deserts cool down at night much faster than the humid SE USA. WHY?  Water vapor.

TWO: To give you an answer for your physics prof, sayL look at mt st helens and also throughout the last 200 yrs, any major volcanic eruption lead to a colling period. Therefore, we can shoot missiles of smal particulates into the atmosphere to reflect some sunlight to help the colling process.

  4. I think he means how human beings can control global warming through physics.  Go give him an "F" for his politics masquerading as science.

This is exactly why U.S. school rankings are in the toilet.

  5. By once again proving that Global Warming is about as real as the Boogey Man.

  6. I know physics can help in the prevention of global warming with scientific facts to discredit the computer models that prove it's exsistance . Here are some basic facts about CO2 as a greenhouse gas:

        1. The greenhouse signature is missing. We have been looking and measuring for years, and cannot find it.

        2. There is no evidence to support the idea that carbon emissions cause significant global warming.

        3. The satellites that measure the world's temperature all say that the warming trend ended in 2001, and that the temperature has dropped about 0.6C in the past year (to the temperature of 1980).

        4. The new ice cores show that in the past six global warmings over the past half a million years, the temperature rises occurred on average 800 years before the accompanying rise in atmospheric carbon. Which says something important about which was cause and which was effect.

  7. Global warming is indeed real and has been documented with ice cores dating back tens of thousands of years.

What is NOT real is the quackery that humans caused (or can even affect) global warming.

The scare tactics being perpetrated upon us are only a money/power grab scheme by bottom-feeder politicians accompanied by their so-easily-led sheeple who take their prattle, even their movies, as hard science

    .

To find that my statement above is true, follow the money. See just who it is who will profit from the carbon offset, carbon tax, & etc.

Here is truth about global warming:

Global warming is one-half of the climatic cycle of warming and cooling.

The earth's mean temperature cycles around the freezing point of water.

This is a completely natural phenomenon which has been going on since there has been water on this planet. It is driven by the sun.

Our planet is currently emerging from a 'mini ice age', so is

becoming warmer and may return to the point at which Greenland is again usable as farmland (as it has been in recorded history).

As the polar ice caps decrease, the amount of fresh water mixing with oceanic water will slow and perhaps stop the thermohaline cycle (the oceanic heat 'conveyor' which, among other things, keeps the U.S. east coast warm).

When this cycle slows/stops, the planet will cool again and begin to enter another ice age.

It's been happening for millions of years.

The worrisome and brutal predictions of drastic climate effects are based on computer models, NOT CLIMATE HISTORY.

As you probably know, computer models are not the most reliable of sources, especially when used to 'predict' chaotic systems such as weather.

    Global warming/cooling, AKA 'climate change':

    Humans did not cause it.

    Humans cannot stop it.

  8. Physics can help in many ways, since physics is the underlying science behind the entire universe.  All of the global climate models are based on physics, so physics helps us to understand how the climate will change as we make changes to the Earth.

It can help us by improving the efficiency of electrical generation, particularly of solar collectors.  If we decide to increase nuclear power that is based on physics, and physics may lead us to a fusion power generator.

If things get too bad, physics can help us figure out ways to cool down the Earth without reducing greenhouse gases, perhaps by injecting reflecting aerosols into the stratosphere.

Most of the answers here are nonsense.  The answers by MR. B. are particularly bad, for someone that is a "top contributor" in physics he doesn't have a full understanding of it.

For example, he claims that sea level can't rise due to temperature increase of the oceans because he doesn't see the water level change in his pot on the stove--that's just stupid, the effect is too small to be seen in a column of water that's maybe 15 centimeters deep.  Scale it up by a factor of 20,000 or so then you'll start seeing it.

He also doesn't understand that most sea level rise would be because of ice sheets, like Greenland, melting.  Not because of the melting of sea ice.

I don't think he's really familiar with atmospheric or planetary science.

  9. Physics - mechanical physics - alternatives to the combustion engine; greater efficiency of combustion engine.

Alternative power - wind / wave / solar

Looking at your q. - I don't believe that there is such a thing as glogal warming, many physicists dont either.

Global climatic change. I believe that this is 'natural'. Think ice age. It is however not helped by the worlds population. People generate heat / pollutants.

Population  - Limit heat out put - eg, we are all heating our homes up and adding to the heat in the environment.

Tarmac roads - a great storage heater - as are brick built houses.

Of course you could always build a massive freezer and fefreeze the ice caps.

  10. Your teacher has told you that man can cause or prevent global warming???!!!

    That's pretty irresponsible!
