How can predation affect life history through natural selection?

  1. 'predation'... you mean being eaten, or preyed upon?

    Well, it is relatively easy to explain.

    The animals that can't run, or hide, or do anything else to avoid being eaten, die. Therefore, these individuals do not contribute to the species, and weaker versions of the species are removed.

    This leaves the stronger, or better at surviving individuals, which can pass on these helpful traits.
