  1. Make sure that schools, public places, workplaces, gyms, etc. have recycling bins and that the materials are really recycled.

Cut down on the 1000's of styrofoam cups that places like Dunkin Donuts sell every day. Tell DD that you do not want a styrofoam cup! (Styrofoam is not recyclable in most places, even though it has a recycling symbol on the bottom- there is no market for it) People should use reusable cups instead of disposables- it really adds up to a lot of trash!

Give stores feedback that you do not want to buy things that are not recyclable. Example: the styrofoam trays that the supermarkets use for packaging meat and day old veggies, etc. could be made of recyclable plastic. (Styrofoam is not recyclable in most places, even though it has a recycling symbol on the bottom- there is no market for it) Give the stores your feedback: you are the customer and the customer is always right. Comsumers should be demanding change in the marketplace.

  2. Q. "How can recycling be further implemented in the daily lives of people?"

    A. Where I live, we have an extensive recycling program. Many daily items that we use can be put out to the curb next to our trash to be picked up on a weekly basis. What I have done is set aside a small area in my home to sort these recyclables into their proper "pile" I have brown paper grocery bags to hold newspapers, another for paperboard,(cereal boxes and other non-corrugated type board,) and one also holds magazines and catalogs. I keep a bag for junk mail that also gets recycled, and on that note, I shred all personal papers ( those with identifying items such as social security numbers, account numbers, etc. ) I then use the shredded paper as mulch in my garden and top it off with a layer of wood mulch on top. We can also recycle the shredded paper but i reuse that around my home. We have bins given to us for recycling and I use 2. One holds glass certain plastics, and tin cans along with corrugated cardboard. The other bin I place the bags of other recyclables I named above in.  I also recycle packaging materials such as peanuts, bubble wrap, and shredded newspaper through our local ReUseIt or Freecycle groups.
