Conducting research involves using one's mental faculties to define questions, identify sources, collect data, associate information, sequence and explain associations, summarize pertinent organized facts, express a conclusion and relevant application, and publish findings.  It sure beats playing mindless video games or watching inane television.  Keeping one's mind active has been correlated with lifelong learning, as well as with longevity and quality of life.


  2. Experimental or quasi-experimental research tries to identify factors which are highly predictable, that is, under certain conditions, you can expect these factors to occur.

    Take reading, for instance.  People who read a lot early in life, continue to be lifelong readers and lifelong learners.  Consequently, there are always more financial opportunities available to individuals who know more than people with poor academic skills who have difficulty understanding most kinds of reading materials.

  3. Research is done over a period of time, so is life long learning. As one grows, so does the other.
