  1. Increasing the flow rate will carry the sediments farther downstream..

    Planting in the water shed can prevent some sediments from reaching the river.  Planting along the river banks helps to hold them in place.

    Dredging can work but usually has peculiar and unpredicted consequences, often including increased erosion and sediments starting near the upriver end of the dredging (especially if on a curve).

    Digging and clearing out out traps above the area to be maintained low sediment.  (Just big holes in the river bed to catch the sediments but they much be dug clean regularly and often high flows which fill them quicker).


  2. Speed water flow. Stop plant materal from entering river system.

  3. by detaching the bottom of the river beds or by building a dam across it. look what happen to the Nile river in Egypt  once a dam was built the sediment's deposits almost stopped all to gather and the fertile Nile valley grow very little the farmers in the area counted on the sediments from the river to grow there crops.
