It depends on the culture, most western civilizations European and American, jokes rotate a lot on s*x but in Asian and Middle-Eastern civilization most of the time is just consider rude.

Did you now that European evolved languages (Spanish, English, Portuguese, Italian, German and so on) are the only languages known to have and insult such as MOTHER         (******* in other languages an insult like that will have to be made out of complex sentences, there for it would not be an insult.

If U call a girl a pumpkin head in Spanish most people will think your calling her a S**t head.  Just a fact

Any kind of translation can be misunderstand. Example if you call a little girl 'pumpkin' in English it's a word of endearment. If you call a little girl 'citrouille' (translation of pumpkin) in French well she will be offended. I will often try to translate an English jokes in French and it's not funny at all.

I speak and/or am learning several languages and I use two gauges for how well I speak or understand a language.  The first is if I can have a conversation in a bar.  When you speak with someone in a bar you do not actually hear every word, you read some lips and you partially follow because you know the subject and the likely words they use.  The other is humor.  Humor is often the most difficult aspect of a language.  Not only does humor differ across cultures but the form humor takes is different.  In Spanish you can often change the meaning of a word my changing it from masculine to feminine or vice versa.  I would often do this in my early days of Spanish usage and would not get a laugh.  I could not understand why.  A play on words like I would make in English was just not funny in Spanish.  I am learning the same in Chinese.  What would get a chuckle out of my American buddies gets a blank faced stare from my Taiwanese friends.  I do not find trouble with my humor being offensive just not accepted as funny.
