  1. false positives happen all the time, and as you have not said which test showed false positive, there is no way to tell you how it could happen, each test being different.

  2. Amaris 10   !

False positives though lesser in the probability but are still there.

  3. False positive happen as do false negatives. There are a lot of things that effect bllod test result including mediations that you might be on.

  4. The diagnostics for diabetes are not positive/negative; they are measurements of either your blood glucose concentration, or the amount if glycated hemoglobin in your blood (AC1 test).    Neither of these tests tell you directly that you have diabetes - they only indicate short and long-term blood glucose levels, respectively.

Any test result could be in error due to some type of mistake or machine malfunction, but its pretty difficult to mess up either of these tests without knowing it.

  5. There are many things to consider when your tests have come back with a false positive.  It could be because you are taking certain supplements (niacin raises the blood sugar) corticosteriods, arthritis meds, many drugs will give false positives.  If you had food before taking your blood work, or coffee with cream and sugar, or eating snacks high in carbs the night before, can all cause false positives on many tests.  Your doctor should be doing other testing.  If you are testing for diabetes, an A1C should give you the information you are after.
