I am 15(I'll be 16 in May) and I am a former cutter. I want to start an organization, starting out small, to help those still suffering. Over time I want to start some kind of program that can help them, maybe art therapy? Anyway, I need to find out how to start out, and then how to get bigger and more known. Thanks!

  1. start volunteering at local fairs and make your own booth then if you get good business then you can start independent stalls and then a small business than a corporation but beware building a business takes time, energy , and a lot of advertising

  2. Rather than starting your own organization, consider finding a nonprofit organization that would like to host your program. Goodwill would be an excellent choice, as would a domestic violence shelter or a program that helps people recover from something (addiction, trauma, illness, etc.). Hospice may even be interested. Retirement homes might be as well.

You need to meet with the volunteer managers of each of these organizations with your proposal. Make it clear that you would want to do this as a volunteer, what costs would be associated with your doing this program (paying for materials and equipment? How much would that be?), and what fundraising you would do yourself to cover at least some of these costs.

  3. Because of your age, you will need an adult for credibility.  Chances are there are others in your school who are cutting and need help.  Get a guidance counselor to help you and then see about branching out into the community.  You have experiences that can lead you into a career as a Clinical Social Worker or a psychologist.  You can relate to those who are cutting much better than someone who has never cut.  I wish you all the best with this.......its been a long time in coming.
