I have a directtv DVR.

  1. You could connect your DVR to a DVD recorder, burn the show on a DVD-R and then use the DVD to put the show on your computer.

    Or you could get whatever card would be necessary to connect your computer directly to the DVR.  This is probably going to be a TV tuner card.
