How can the Lakers be favored over the Celtics to win the 08/09 title?

Check out the Vegas odds. Lakers are 3/1 and the Celtics are 3.5/1.

Did the oddsmakers not watch the finals? Didn't they see the Lakers get dismantled?

Or are the odds being driven down by all of the delusional Laker fans looking to throw away their hard earned money?

corey just when i started to respect you and recognize your knowledge of the nba, you went and blew it.

first of all no one cares about the vegas odds, theyre like the weather man.

second turiaf did not play a very vital role for the lakers besides team moral and bench dancing. thats basically it.

i might agree on the kobe part though because he is 30 and has been playing alot of basketball. but he is not overrated. understood?

as for NO and houston, yes they are both contenders, but the lakers match up just as well as them if not more.

as for andrew bynum, 3 weeks before he got hurt he was putting up 17 points and 10 boards as well as 3 blocks a game. he averaged a double double in a half of a season. the only thing that might hold him back is his injury.

as for the celtics being the favorites. your crazy to believe that, they lost 3 of their 5 biggest bench players this offseason, also the east with the trades made the conference stronger. the celtics should be worried.

there are two teams who i believe will win the title next season, lakers or rockets.

It's easy... Andrew Bynum, there is so much hate for this guy. Only time can tell how good he is, but if he comes out like he did last year. I'm going to laugh my a$$ off and maybe then you will understand why they are the favorites for christ sake as a Lakers fan i thought that the rockets would pass for the lakers and celtics as the favorites i guess i was wrong even the expert recognize the lakers are the team to beat. If only you delusional haters would understand how short handed and unexperienced the lakers were then you would understand that come this year the lakers are looking for blood to avenge what they lost this year.

Doesn't mean dip. They were favored last season too, even right up until the finals, NO? You wanna laugh, go back to espn's 10 ' experts' predictions right before the finals, 8 of them pinheads picked the Lakers. Jees, if you listen to what some of the laker fans say, you'd actually think they won, instead of getting the BIT*H SLAPPIN' they got. Who cares. It's not like it matters anyway. For all we know Kobe could break his ankle and be out for the season. Same goes with any other team. Don't freak about the predictions until AT LEAST peseason.

Edit - I don't think it will be either of those teams anyways. Suns or New Orleans for the West, and Cavs or Miami (if DWade performs like he is now) for the east.

Edit - I never said don't make predictions. I just said don't cry about them when your team isn't predicted to win.

I think that people still see Lakers as a better team, I think they can be, but they just broke down in the Finals. If they could get it together, then they are the favored ones. Also, I think that Vegas odds are sometimes based to trick you to bid on the favored team so that they'll get more money for an upset. I'm not making any odds until the time comes because you never know what will happen.

The Lakers get Bynum back, and the Celtics haven't done anything to improve themselves. Also many people forget Gasol didn't have the Triangle offense down last year, but by the Finals next year, he'll be much more comfortable with the offense as well as his teammates. The Lakers can only get better, the Celtics are still the same team.
