  1. Until you can put the illicit love affair between Americans and their gas guzzling rubber tired vehicles to an end, you'll never get the patronage needed to operate even as a "break even" operation.  $25 per gallon of gas may help this along.

Having the US government run a railroad is like putting a mokey in charge of the pharmacy.

In the mean time, hop in and fire that mutha up.................

  2. Dude, we have pumped money into the rat hole of Amtrak for 36+ years. Outside of the NE Corridor Passenger rail Has long since been over taken by the growth of Commuter Airlines for most long travel. The Rails are run by the Freightlines. Unlike Europe, we have the interstate system for short travel. The future for rail is a growth in the NE sector and some service south to Florida. The days of East-West travel by rail is dead.

  3. look to Europe and see how they do it...they have the best rail network in the world

  4. Stop all of the governmental waste - invest that amount in the railroad industry and we could be light ages ahead of other countries........................

For some reason, the president believes it's more cost effective to fight wars in countries who do not want us there and our military getting killed everyday than to invest in what our country really needs.

  5. US rail service is the wave of the future. Every long haul road MUST be double tracked to prevent the delays. AMTRAK is on the rise with increased ridership every year since 1997.
