How can the US recover from the economic slowdown?

What should be done to fix the economic problems that are occurring in the American economy today? What should the government do (or not do) to deal with the slowdown? Thanks for the input and I look forward to your answers.

The economy will pickup on it's own. Any more government fiddling and they will s***w it up all the more.

You have to look at it this way in my opinion The train as left the station now nothing was done about a loose wheel even as it climbed the mountain, and now it has crested the peak and is barreling down in to the valley. No way to stop it now . But there are people at the bottom who can be warned to get out of the way .

kick starting the economy is really very simple.  protect the value of the currency by providing a stable long term value.  eliminate taxes on capital creation ie the capital gains tax.  lower tax rates across the board 30%.   these simple steps would create a miracle comeback in the US economy or any other economy for that matter.

Change the Feds policy's of easy money, decrease the trade deficit, increase interest rates so foreigners put their money in America, also America needs to start making products that the world wants like new technology.

by making amends and ending the violation of human rights by pulling troops out of Iraq and letting people get on with their lives instead of meddling in everybody's business.
