When they have Guantanamo prison, state executionsns and fly enemies of the state half-way round the world to legally torture them?

As well as being the last western nation to legally practice slavery.

Or how can they be the home of the brave? When the USA is governed by hysteriahere-sayay and misinformation?

  1. Marketing and lots of it. "Land of the free" is simply a slogan meant to cloud the obvious reality of a  unjust society where it's everyone for him or herself with a  violent, Imperialistic attitude towards the rest of the world

  2. We take a lot of freedoms for granted, and when we do all people tend to do is criticize about how the US was the last country to end slavery. What people neglect to realize is how far we have come as a nation. So get over that we last to end slavery because now people do have the power to get an education and leave a decent life. Don't use the past to neglect on the present.

  3. It can be the land of the free if the freedom meant is the freedom to EXPLOIT: that is, IF you see a mug with money in his pocket, you're FREE to con him out of it, provided it's legal--which nearly every trick to swindle and cheat is over there. It's how the US got big, you see.

And it can be the home of the brave if you redefine the MEANING of brave. In their case it means FIGHT ON OUR SIDE AND YOU'LL GET A MEDAL. Nothing to do with courage--you don't need that, with the best weapons in the world at your disposal.

  4. These are all very interesting observations. All of the issues you raise are the direct result of a presidential administration (George Bush) stretching the boundaries or direct violations of the US Constitution. Over time the American tax payers will pay a hefty fee for Bush's misuse of power in the form of out-of-court settlements and jugements in lawsuits.
