I recently found out I am pregnant. My periods are so irregular that I don't know when my last period was. What are other ways a doctor can use to tell me how far along I am?

  1. They can do an early vaginal ultrasound.  The earlier the ultrasound is done, the easier it is to date the pregnancy with accuracy.  Good luck!

  2. They can do an ultrasound to measure how much the baby has developed.  This should give them an almost exact date of the gestational age of the baby.  I had two external ultrasounds instead of internal ones.  I had one at 6 weeks and another at 10 weeks.  I have heard they can be safer and I was able to see mine perfectly well as well as the heartbeat.

  3. The doctor will be able to tell your due date by the first official ultrasound you will know exactly how far you are

  4. He/She will definitely be able to!  You will either be given an ultrasound or a blood test to find the level of hCG in your bloodstream.

If you are far enough along your Dr. may also do a pelvic exam.  He could feel your enlarged uterus and let you know about how far along you are that way.

    Best of luck to you!

  5. He/She will do an ultrasound. Measuring the baby will give him how far along you are.
