How can the human race possibly adapt and survive? Who has to go?

Our environment is being drastically eroded and damaged beyond repair that I personally cannot see our continued existence, at least not in the way we are now. We will in the future reach such unsustainable numbers that something has to give. Are we going to suffer the fate of ALL species which become over abundant in relation to their sustainable continuance ie collapse and disintegration? If so, how will it unfold. It is not good enough to say it will be ok, I cannot see it and I know it is not ok. How will it all play out do you think?

  1. No one species, or being has to go! What we need is a shift in thinking, away from ego-based philosophies. When people identify with deeper structures than roles and expectations of others, when they are comfortable with their self, they find more happiness, even when using fewer resources. Positivity, optimism, and the abandonment of fear create a prescience in people others can see.

By being positive, they create new scripts that aren't written by advertisers or governments. When people are of a positive mind, they not only work harder and more efficient, but find peace and pleasure in what they do, even if it is only for the good of others. Other see the success of those who've found 'presence' and wish similar respect. Mutual respect ensues, sexual practices become more respectful too, like using birth control!

The birthrate moderates as people stop birthing just for the ego based role programmed by their parent/religion/government. One in balance with perspective will not sweat having kids if they have no resources or true 'deep' desire for kids. Knowledge of one's self, and following one's bliss connects one to heaven and God, so if fear of death or need for immortality is your only reason to birth, you have no need!

If we are happy with what we truly need, and birthrates are moderated, there need be no collapse, disentigration, war or suffering!

How will it play out? For those focused on suffering, it will seem like h**l. I take my stand at optimism and prescience, and I think between technology and the growing mind-shift, we will all be OK!

  2. Years ago there were great benefits  for  couples having larger families. The children were brought up to be caring and considerate of others, especially of their parents. who would be cared for by the family. Sadly this is not the case anymore. The elderly are bundled into  these so called homes for the aged but are in reality prisons, with guards disguised as nurses and care workers, all this for one thing. Profiteering from the families of these elderly. It is right and proper for the nations to follow the way of the other animals on the planet, When things are not going to plan, procreation should be abandoned, until such times as our numbers become managable again. In it's turn we will need less land and the great herds of plains animals will be restored. All the problems on earth are created by overpopulation!

  3. You discount science, in the future which no one knows technology will be so advanced that overpopulation might not be a problem

  4. personally i believe that it is science that is leading the human race down that path of destruction. Is it possible that new medical advances have interfered in 'survival of that fittest'? What i mean is, i believe because of new medical science advances, we're gonna all die because of our own diseases. I am talking about degenerative genetic diseases. In "cave man" times (excuse the expression) any child with a genetic disease would die and the line of the disease would die too. Survival of the Fittest. Now however, scientists have found a way to allow people with genetic diseases to live and to procreate, therefore allowing the line to live on. Burdening the human race for another generation. I believe that there will reach a point where the diseases will penetrate every genetic line rendering the human race useless and unable to survive.

  5. one second-when mother earth feels like our race is a big bore-we will be wiped off.You can never know the unknown

  6. I've just said this to my daughter; It's an "unusual" world we live in now.

Why? We'd rather feed machines than feed ourselves.

Biofuels is but a "pipe-dream", and we're about to be a very hungry and angry world if we don't start doing some humane maths.

Biofuels-a step in the wrong direction,  absolutely.

What's here, i.e solar energy which is constant, is always relegated to a backseat.

It's a source of energy that needs more than a nod and a procrastinated reply.

Sustainable or not in the next 20-30 years is anyone's guess, if we continue to believe that mother earth is not hurting from our abuse.

  7. We'll never get people to stop having kids. Even the Chinese who have had state instituted limits on childbearing break the rules and willingly pay the fine to have another child. Although its not entirely useless to show the benefits having less children to people.

We just have to stress the selfish aspects of less people in the house = more money/stuff for the current people already in the house. Though telling someone they can't have kids (especially in the majority of developed nations) just isn't going to happen.

The unfortunate result may be that the limited resources will essentially take care of the overpopulation by itself through starvation and war over scarcity of resources.

In addition the more people we have, the less people will mean. It totally sucks.

Hopefully we can devise a way to generate more food, water and space through science or different methods of social structuring.
