How can the temperatures of sand & water affect the climate or the area?

  1. they effect the temperatures greatly due to their differential heating. ill give you an example of a coastal area. this is actually about sand and land breezes. during day the sand will get heated up quickly iin the sunlight. but as you know water gets heated up by convection so it will take time to get heated up. so above the sea will be cold air while above the land will be hot air. hot air being lighter will rise up. so the air air above sea will rush to replace it. the reverse happens during night as again water will take time to cool down. so coastal areas have a moderate temparature.  

    also in deserts there is only sand which gets heated up during the day and the temparature rises extremely. but during night the sand looses heat quickly and as the sky is clear and there are no clouds to block the rising heat( no water present in deserts so no formation of clouds) and so the temparatures fall extremely low. thats is why nights are colder and days are hotter in deserts.

    similarly ocean currents and precipitation also effects the climate
