  1. The community is best benefited by allowing the wetlands to perform their designed functions of protecting dry land from storm damage, filtering out harmful organic pollutants, and providing a place for fish and game to replenish their numbers for the next generation of fishermen and hunters.

  2. the ecological balance is kept in place

    higher water table

    proper runoffs from nature

  3. I assume you are reffering to inland ecosystems including marshlands, tidal flats"etc...Here on the gulf coast, 95% of all life occuring in the Gulf of Mexico either spends it's entire life or some portion of it's life cycle in the estuaries. The other 5% depend on the aforementioned to ensure their survival. Pretty integral.

  4. upland bog holds water, evening out flow to protect downstream from both flood and drought.

it acts as a filter releasing very pure water.

lowland flood plains also act as flood buffers.

salt water marshes act as storm defense and also filter pollution from upstream protecting coastal ecosystems, and act as 'fish nurseries'.
