O people ! Muhammad has no sons among ye men, but verily, He is the Apostle of God and the Last in the line of Prophets (Khatam-un-Nabiyeen). And God is Aware of everything."

(Surah Al Ahzab 33.40)

The basic principle for interpreting the verses of Quran is to interpret them in the light of other verses, and in the light of what has been said by Holy Prophet Muhammad P-B-U-H or His Companions. The word Khatam is translated here as 'LAST'. The literal meaning of this word is SEAL, as something which is sealed. There are many other verses in Quran which support this translation of the word Khatam and thus the finality of the Messenger and the Message.

Holy Prophet Muhammad P-B-U-H on His Last Hajj gave a sermon, where he announced:

"O’ people! No Prophet would be raised after me and no new Ummah (would be rasied) after you." (Seerat Ibne Hisham, The Last Sermon)

"There will be thirty liars in my Ummah, each of them claiming to be a Prophet, but I am the Khatam-un-Nabiyeen, there is no Prophet after me."

(Sunan Abu Daud, Kitab al-Fitan)

Holy Prophet P-B-U-H used the word Khatam-un-Nabiyeen for Himself and then qualified the meaning of this word by adding that "there is no Prophet after me." Most certainly He knew that there will be someone in his ummah who will make all sorts of far flung distorted meanings.

  1. I AM THE NEW PROPHET! God sent me down to earth on Christmas Day 1990.

  2. Our Beloved Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) Is the last prophet !

    End of Story !

  3. Hey Hey, i asked 1qfactor this Q, hope he doesn't mind me writing what he said :

" But back to the seal of prophets aspect.  The word Khatamanabiyyeen is used only once in the Holy Qur'an, and that is for the Holy Prophet (sa).  We understand it to mean Seal of the Prophets.  However, not seal as in closed, but Seal as in mark or validation.  Seal is used in other places in the Qur'an to mean closed by not in this case because even the word khatam is written different than when it means "seal as in close."  Indeed Muhammad (sa) was the last law bearing Prophet, but we believe Prophets can still come who are slaves to Muhammad (sa) and only teach the perfect Qur'an that he taught.  The Prophet (sa) was the Seal of all Prophets in the sense that he was the highest and greatest Prophet ever.  Just as a King or a President puts his seal on a letter to validate it, the Prophet (sa) put his seal on all Prophethood to validate all Prophets before him.  And in the future, if ever a Prophet were to come, he MUST bear the seal of Muhammad (sa) and teach from the Qur'an, otherwise we know he will be false "

umm well hope he doesn't mind. :)

  4. May Allah curse Mirza the Liar and his misguidance. May Allah guide all the Ahmadiyya's to the Straight Path.

  5. That's why in 1973 constitution of Pakistan they are now  not known as Muslims we don't recognize them as Muslims.

    He is the Last

  6. I agree with you!!!

Mirza Ghulam is not a prophet!!

  7. They can find the hidden meanings in hadiths which even the revered companions of Muhammad (P.B.U.H) couldn't.

When Abu Bakr found that some people had decided to take advantage of Muhammad (P.B.U.H)'s death and declared their prophethood, he (R.A) didn't even bother to go argue against their beliefs. He (R.A) didn't even ask his companion sahabas to interpret the word 'khatam'.

Neither did any companion of Muhammad (P.B.U.H), nor any of His wives say that a human can't judge anybody's faith. That we should believe anybody to be a Muslim when he/she says so. Abu Bakr (R.A)simply ordered that they all should be killed, unless they repent.

And he sent an army which consisted of the great companions of Muhammad (P.B.U.H).

  8. 100% agreed,

that Mirza called my religion DEAD!!!

'Will you present dead Islam before the world by excluding me?" (Zikr-e-Habib by Mufti Muhammad Sadiq Qadiani page 146, First Edition)

so in the eyes of Qadyanis,

Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) is NOTHING,his teachings r dead,he is dead which means he is claiming that my creator is dead!!

    Ma'az Allah!!!

  9. Any one to says there is another prophet or claims to be a prophet, he need to consult psychiatrist.

Even you should also avoid to make such questions here when many nonmuslims read such things they ignore the truth (Islam) more. We know one thing and that is Prophet Muhammad PBUH is the last and final massenger of Allah Almighty.

  10. Actually God made it clear that John The Baptist is the last prophet but you guys ignore that.  That's why Jesus warned us about false prophets.

  11. Prophet Mohammed PBUH is the last & final messenger sent by ALLAH for the whole humanity...

  12. Finality Of His Prophethood

Indeed, there is no Messenger/Prophet after Muhammd ibnu 'Abd Allah (saws) as Allah, Ta 'Ala, says in His Book:

"Muhammad (saws) is not the father of any man among you, but he is the Messenger of Allah, and the last (end) of the Prophets. Allah is Ever All-Aware of everything."

    (Qur'an Al-Ahzab: 40)

The Prophet (saws) has said : "And the line of the Prophets is closed with me."

    Muslim

Believing that Muhammad (saws) is the final Messenger of Allah confirms Allah's statement :

"...This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed my Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion..."

    (Qur'an Al-Ma'idah:3 (in part)

Thus, if Islam were not a complete way of life, then this religion would need to be constantly updated. In order to update this religion, there would have to be another Prophet after Muhammad (saws). However, this is not so as Allah completed this Deen and it can never be changed from its true form.

    Peace :)

  13. Brother Waqas - You brought up an EXCELLENT point that verses in the Qur'an are supported by other verses.  So please show me any other verse besides 33:40 that can in any way be meant to mean that Prophets will never come again.

Now, as far as Khtamanabiyyeen goes, our understanding of it is from the Holy Qur'an and the authentic Hadeeth.

I'm sure you find Imam Bukhari as authentic right?  Any doubts about him?  Well, I'm sure you would agree with me that he was more knowedgable than any scholar today about the issue of Khatamanabiyyeen.  Below I present his tafseer with citations so you can look it up yourself.

Imam Bukhari has commented on this verse (33:40), and said

"Prophet Muhammad (saw) is Khatam in the sense that he is the possessor of the Seal of Prophets, without whose certification no one can even be considered to be a true prophet.  He is Khatam in the sense that he is the best and quintessential example of a prophet. He is Khatam in the sense that like the signet ring he wore and used to seal documents, he can create an impression of his character on whomsoever is worthy of receiving it." [1]

He is Khatam as he bore a birthmarkon his back that allowed Hazrat Salman Farsi (ra) to declare he was a true prophet. This birthmark was literally referred to as “Khatam An-Nubuwwa.” [2]

Here are the references of the above quote.

    [1] (Sahih Jami’ Bukhari, Vol. I, Book 3, #65, Book 10, #546, Book 11, #630; Vol. IV, Book 52, #189, Book 53, #338; Vol. VII, Book 72, #755-759, 761-764, 766-767; Vol. IX, Book 89, #276); (Sahih Jami’ Muslim, Book 4, #1336-1338; Ch. 11-12, Book 24, #5212-5229); (Sahih Jami’ Tirmidhi, Ch. 11, #1-8; Ch. 12, #1-9); (Sunan Abu Daud, Book 1, #19; Book 34, #4212, 4214-4215, 4217)

    [2] (Sahih Jami’ Bukhari, Vol. I, Book 4, #189; Vol. IV, Book 52, 305, Book 56, #741; Vol. VII, Book 70, #574; Vol. VIII, Book 73, #22, Book 75, #363); (Sahih Jami’ Muslim, Ch. 27-28, Book 30, #5789-5793); (Sahih Jami’ Tirmidhi, Ch.2, #1-8); (Sunan Abu Daud, Book 32, #4071)

At no point does Imam Bukhari say that it means no more Prophets can come.  On the contrary, he says that, "without whose certification no one can even be considered to be a true prophet."  This exactly is what Ahmadi Muslims believe.

The Hadeeth you've cited only further make clear that no new shariah or law can come, but they do not put an end to Prophethood in general.

And please, after explaining Imam Bukhari's testimony to me, please show me what other ayats say no more Prophets can come.  Allah bless you brother.

love for all, hatred for none
