so my friend said she was induced 2 weeks early.. which only made her 28 weeks pregnant. i asked her how in the world is that 2 weeks early when your supposed to go to about 40 weeks?! she said that doctors consider you to be full term at 30 weeks and that some women can go until 40 but most dont. she was like 18 or 19 when she had her baby and im so confused about what shes talking about. i asked her how long they kept the baby and if she was considerd premie and she told me that she was 9 lbs and was not premie and they both had a normal hospital stay. would sum1 please help me understand what she must be talking about???? im due for a girl in 5 weeks so does this mean im over due? wow im reallly confused.

  1. she is lying...i am a nursing student specializing in ob...full term is 37 to 42 weeks. and yes that baby would have been a premie and would have probably had very immature lungs. she hads no clue what she is talking about and there is no way that baby weighed 9 pounds...i can't stand stupidity like this...not your question...your friend is just intellectually bankrupt

  2. There is no way a doctor told her she was overdue at 28 weeks.  She must have been confused when she told you the story.  36-38 weeks would be much more likely if she was induced early for a medical reason.

  3. your friend is delusional! 40 weeks is the norm. a baby can live from 24 weeks onwards if born but that is seriously premi and would need to be in a humidicrib and have steroid injections to help its lungs grow cos the lungs are last to develop. your doin just fine, your pregnancy is going at a normal rate.

  4. honey...neither one of yall need kids...there are 40 weeks in a pregnancy...and she may have been induced at 38 weeks..add your weeks up honey...and talk to a doctor

  5. your friend is obviously wrong your not full term till your 37 weeks anything before that is premature she must of meant to say that she was induced at 38 weeks cause that would be two weeks early since your pregnancy is supposed to be 40 weeks

  6. Full term is NOT 30 weeks - it is 37 weeks.

I'm so confused by her strange story.

No, you are not overdue and if you had a baby now it would be premature if you are 35 weeks.

  7. She has to be lieing.  40 weeks is full term.  No doctor would induce a baby at 28 weeks.  The baby only weighs about two pounds at that time.  Don't let her confuse you, she's way off...

  8. your friend is mistaking. full term is 40 weeks but you can go as early as 36 weeks. i have three kids and my first one i was induced three days before my due date because of her heart and my second came 2 1/2 weeks early but my third wanted to come when i was 34 weeks and they gave me medicine to stop my labor they said it was to early he came out at 35 1/2 weeks. he was a premee and had to stay an extra day but sense he ate and was doing fine they let him come home
