All kinds of reasons.

First and foremost, pills lose thier effectiveness over time, especially if they are improperly stored.  If, for example, you keep them in a kitchen drawer by the oven, they will degenerate very quickly.

Second, pills affect different people in different ways.

Third, if you are expecting a huge 'buzz', then the pills may seem disappointing because you set your standards so high.

Fourth, ibuprofens will not affect you in the same way that a downer would...and since you didn't identify the 'salt jar' pils, we can assume that you have only taken 3 pills that are mind altering.

Fifth, if you are disappointed with the effects of the pills, drink a couple of beers (or any alcoholic beverage).  Many times, the alcohol will mitigate the effects of the pills.  I've blacked out for 8 to 24 hours after innocently having a few drinks with some pills.

You are extremely hyper or they are increasing or decreasing each others effect.I'm going with the last
