  1. To put it simply, there is no requirement for time. When the first particles formed from the cooling singularity, gravity, space and motion came into being. You have to understand that motion requires only space. When man evolved to the point where he began to explore things around him he discovered that something was missing, he could not calculate speed, inventing the clock solved that problem, but it not create time. Time is defined as a period over which an event takes place, this is just another man made construct. Time, if we must use that word, is the instant that an event begins, it can only be called, now. Now has no dimension, it is just, now. Earth is a mere speck in the universe. Why does it need time zones? The beginning of an event in China happens at the same instant as the beginning of events all over the Earth. Now.

  2. "time"  is defined by humans.  "time" itself exists, under your own terms.  minutes, seconds, and hours are defined by your own experience of them.  Like the economy, time only exists because everyone agrees on similar terms.  If a very convincing person were to convince a lot of people that either time or money was worth something different than what everyone else believed in, that would change the definition of time, and/or the economy.

  3. If time is a man made construct, how could anything have existed before us? Because time exists outside of man, that's why. To say otherwise is to be ridiculous. Maybe some quantum physicists can make a case for the non-existence, or non-importance, of time at a sub-atomic level, but in our macro-scopic world it is unavoidable.

  4. Time is nothing but the relative change in objets. If time does not exist, then everything will come to a standstill. Your heart will stop. The earth will stop. All the chemical and physical reactions going on in the universe will stop. That is what they mean when they say "Frozen in time". It means something has not changed for many years. Like crocodiles.

  5. time is for organization.

  6. Does the sun understand the concept of a second?  I suspect not.  Time is a purely man-made entity the purpose of which is to seperate the past from the future and both of them from now.

  7. Time is a property that arises from spacetime.  It can mean several different things.

It can mean the time axis in a flat spacetime.  In that sense, it's sort of like the forward direction in space.  Since an observer's view of spacetime depends on their frame of reference, time is relative. It's similar to how two people facing in different directions in space will disagree on how far forward something is, even if they are at the same point.

It can also mean proper time, which is the time that you feel as an inhabitant of spacetime.  It's the length of your path through spacetime.

You are actually an extremely long, thin, 4 dimensional ribbon-like structure in spacetime extending from your birth to your death.  You're long in one direction because your lifespan, which may be about 80 years, corresponds to a length of 80 light years (4.7 × 10^14 miles, or 470 trillion trillion miles).  Along the other 3 directions, your size is your height, width, and depth.  The distance along your length, in the long direction, is the proper time you experience.

Your proper time isn't relative.  All observers will agree on your length, even if they disagree about how far forward you extend along their time axis.  Going back to the space analogy, everyone agrees on the length of a ruler, but they might not agree on how far forward it extends, because someone might have it facing along their line of sight, and someone else might have it facing perpendicular to their line of sight, or at an angle.
