  1. Well, I can think of one reason, although that has nothing to do with 'stopping' a tornado. Since a tornado may cause downed power lines and leave other dangerous damage in its wake, shutting off the power is a safety measure so that these things can be repaired before power is restored.

  2. not possible. and to prove the point, oklahoma and kansas are some of the most rural places you're ever gonna see

  3. Was this a science FICTION movie by any chance?

  4. There are no studies I am aware of that relate power usage to tornados.

What you may have heard is that global warming has the potential to create stronger tornados than historically common.

So, in a sense, over the long term, the habits of many could impact the climate, thus tornadic activity, but there would not be a direct releationship to a large city turning off lights and experiencing less severe weather.

Hope this helps answer your question.

  5. I do not know what movie you are referring to but I can assure you that this is pure science fiction. Reducing electricity usage in a city or town will do nothing to prevent or weaken a tornado, no matter what the intensity of the tornado is. If humans had the capability to control the weather, this world would be a whole different place.

  6. Power has no correlation to tornadoes.

First of all, the fastest a tornado has gone is 275mph. That in itself is rare because only 2% ever go over 200mph.

But tornadoes get their energy from hot/cold fronts.
