How can u get scratches off a CD Game like Test Drive Unlimited?

I have tried running test drive unlimited on my computer and it doesn't work. Then i notice scratches on my (DVD) game disk. Is there any way i can get them off? Also when i try to run it i get into the program and then when its saving after i want to get outta my house it stops.

brass cleaner and a soft cloth, and rub them out, I have turned unplayable discs into working fine in about an hour. when done rubbing them out, wash with dish washing liquid and dry, then play~

Do not have the disc resurfaced, it usually makes more of a mess and they still wont work. At least not on my xbox360 they won't
