  1. you can only play dv cassettes in a dv deck or camcorder, or if its dvc pro format, a dvc pro deck.or camcorder.

The signal on the tape is completely different, the tape width is different, the tape transprt speed is totally different and the cassette spools are a different size from conventional vhs spools and motors, so basically its a non-starter.

  2. Right, right.. you cannot.. It is simple - same reason why you cannot play CD disc on classic vinyl record player - one has analog signal on it - directly transferable to the speakers. The other has digital information (NOT signal...) - bunch of ones and zeros, which has to be processed by computer (yes, even DVD player has a little tiny computer) and computer create the analog signal for your speakers based on the zeros/ones  info.

Have fun..... hope it explains it. More questions? Ask.

  3. No you can't, dv is digital and vhs is analog. Your dv camera needs a firewire connection to download the video.

  4. You can't. DVC tapes are digital. VCR uses analog tapes. I don't think they make converter tapes the way they did when VHS-C and Hi8 tapes were around. Primarily because when DVC tapes came out, VCRs were already on their way out.
