  1. A node not an 'elbow joint' ! anyway ..

Males grow taller than the females generally as this assists with pollination.

It's very easy to tell before the males buds open, they look obviously different to the females and can be removed before any chance of pollination. (Pollination means seeds, seeds means less thc as the plant is putting it's energy into the production of seeds and not the productions of thc)

After a couple of harvests it becomes very easy and to be honest you won't need a magnifying glass.

It's worth getting one so you can see the trichomes develop, not only do they look cool but it allows you to really see when is best to harvest.

  2. easy - females produce seeds, males don't.  True for all single-sexed plants.

  3. Its a real art form in early stages tbh! you need a magnifying glass and to examin the "elbow joints" looking for small hairs. only real way to do it is to use a blown-up picture from the internet of these "joints" (no pun intended) and compaire them with what you see in your magnifying glass. but remeber that up till maturity, even well experianced breeders make mistakes at this one.

  4. You really can't until they begin to flower. The male will bloom earlier than a female. They form small sacks where the leaf stems meet the main stem. Females produce flowers at the terminal ends of the branches.

  5. A male plant would have small flowers at early stages of growth, however the female plant would have small pistils (hairs) growing instead
