  1. Because then we do not have to produce as much energy in the power plants which means less pollution..

but if we had all green energy using less energy would not matter as they do not produce pollution.. I'm waiting for the little wind turbines and solar panels to go down in price.. i'm sure then a lot more people would turn to greener energy as it saves them money in the long run.

  2. Energy typically has to be created. A lot of the ways we make it have harmful effects for our society. By reducing how much we use we can reduce the side effects from our current production modes and giving us time to develop less toxic ways to create energy.

  3. judisiously using energy ( used when reqd only )  will lead to lesser power failures. & more effective utlilsastion by all.

Thereby lesser utilisation of Natural Resources.

Less clutter in your life. Less need to fill your life with TV, entertainment centres, game consoles etc and get you out and involved in your community.

More of an effort to meet with others and develop solutions to issues rather than hiding in an electric/tronic cocoon

Sharing the earth with the rest of the world rather than sucking it dry as fast as we can

Remembering that we live 'on the earth' and not just 'in the world'.
