How can using less heat and air conditioning reduce global warming?

I'm no expert, but I suppose that the use of A/C & heating adds to the consumption of energy/electricity.  The production of energy/electricity must somehow be contributing to pollution, so we should do everything we can to minimize that.  The individual A/C units also pollute things in their own way, I think.    

I like depending on these things as little as possible.  It makes me feel more in tune with reality.  Here in Puerto Rico, I've gotten to the point where I don't even sleep with sheets on me.  A lot of people in Puerto Rico don't have A/C, but I can't live without my internet...lol  

I do hope someone gets on here and explains how the individual units pollute things.  Also, how the production of energy/electricity pollutes things.  I have a friend who powers his house with solar and wind energy, so not only is he polluting less, in the long run, he'll even save money.

Less heat and air conditioning usage means less fossil fuels being burned to generate the electricity to power the heater or air conditioner.

Pros:

-being colder or sweatier

The air conditioner and heater most likely use fossil fuels as an energy source. When burned, fossil fuels emit CO2 (a greenhouse gas) into the atmosphere. Use less, emit less.

Pros: slow down climate change

Cons: people will wine about not having a constant 72 degrees F.

Less air conditioning:

Air conditioning uses freon to convert hot air (outside) to cold air (inside), but air conditioning can keep humans cool so they don't cook in the deserts around the world. More heat = less immunity.

The A.C. then spews out more heat making it hotter outside and that leads to more use of air conditioning. This leads to everything listed below.

Less heat:

Ice stops melting.

More ice melting=more water=mass flooding=less life

*Venice's water level has gained about three feet because water has risen in the world.

Also, more heat can destroy ocean drift currents not giving humans certain fish for food. (fish don't migrate without current)

El niño - a south american "storm" that comes around each year increasing rain and temperature for harvesting and farming.

*The temperature rising because of el niño has risen an average of 5 degrees F since 2000.
