How can water run brown only through one tap in the house?

When I turn on the hot water in my Jacuzzi tub, the water comes out brown but I run the tap, shower and toilet in the same bathroom, they are all clear. I "kinda" tried to flush the hot water heater but still do not understand how this can be. Any ideas?

  1. man thats wierd sounds like a old pipe they never took out or something i would drink it at all

  2. Sounds like a bad pipe.  You may have to replace the pipe connecting the jacuzzi.  Call and ask a plumber for advice.

  3. I have the same thing in my bathroom.  Only the water in the tub runs brown for a few minutes before it gets clear.  I figured that the pipes into the tub are old & rusted or suffering from corrosion. In your case,  I suspect the installers did not replace all the old pipes or used inferior ones.  I think a plumber can help but beware of being taken advantage of --get references.  Good Luck with your problem.  I'm going to get a whole new bathroom - walls and all because my house is from 1917!

  4. You have copper plumbing?

There might be galvanic corrosion in a steel or iron pipe in that particular run of piping.
