How can we, as teachers, carve out time for ourselves? What systems do we have to ensure are in place so that we don't become overwhelmed and subject to burn out?

  1. Make some fun activites that also gives a good learning experience for your students. If you make homework fun sometimes,, you might just have fun too. Also dont stress yourself... unlike other jobs you actually have time off for the rest of the day. Enjoy these and other benefits...

  2. Give your students less homework, end the lesson early. Students need time too.  Or do something fun for once in the classroom if we are not bored neither are you.

  3. My division has a teacher group that supports new teachers, as statistically the majority of us do not stay teaching for more than 5 years.  I do the best that I can, using as many resources that I can get, but when I go home I remind myself that I am not my job.  I try and leave work at work.  Some days its really hard but you just have to make time for yourself and put your needs first in order to do a great job.  I always ask myself, what is best for the student- the crazy stressed out teacher or the calm one who is enjoying the job???

  4. Use one of your holiday days!!! One of the 1/4 of the year(yes 13 whole weeks) to chill, or bank holidays or the two days together in the weekend you have off. Teachers have more holidays than any other profession(i have 20 days inc bank holidays a year) and you finish early in the days AND dont pretend you dont use templates for every pupil with reports and marks!! Just chuck em into the ole c**p, not so c**p, medium, quite good and good categories, as u usually do!!! So shut up and think yourself lucky!!!!!!

  5. Well, if you give a lot of homework, you have to grade more, and that is more work. If you give your students less homework, and make the homework a little harder, it will help reduce your time, but help the students. Or just have students grade each other.

The other option is to schedule your whole day, and have some breaks in, but work harder during the work time to finish faster
