How can we achieve Global Peace and Healing?

I welcome all answers short and long. I would start with free education (via computers) and health care for all 7 billion world citizens. Three billion people make less than $2.00 per day. Microloans for this! (Grameen, Kiva). Ok - your ideas!

  1. Getting that moron Bush out of the White House would be a step in the right direction. He's going to get us all killed with his stupidity.

  2. As long as human beings exist, the grand idea of "world peace" will never be realized. I too dream for a utopia devoid of war, strife, and conflict; however it is our nature to steal, kill, and destroy. Yet the dream of such a prospect is what allows us to strive towards it.

  3. All countries must cooperate to get rid of nuclear arms and instead divert the funds to beneficial projects like giving aid to poverty stricken countries.

  4. we can't that's unrealistic.  Humans always want more and will take it it's human nature.

  5. A good start would be the elimination of al Islamic terrorists and the vast majority of people who practice that religon. I think you would see a very peaceful world once they where gone. Currently, the vast majority of world conflicts involve Muslims. Take them out of the equation and voila...a world for you to buy everyone computers and give out hugs!

I get a chuckle out of the "Bush" answers. Like all the world problems started with him and will end when he leaves office.Like Islamic terrorists haven't been killing each other and others for centuries.  It still amazes me the level of ignorance and stupidity people show.

  6. Exodus 20 and Matthew 5 should help.

  7. This is a very challenging question to offer an answer to because there are so many, so very many individual egos that live on this planet.

I imagine there are many who would have you believe they know what the answer is. I have struggled with this question all of my adult life and I still do not know the best answer.

Please believe me when I tell you if I did know the answer I would not hold it back.

It almost seems to me the answer is just right there in front of all of us but somehow, someway we can't see it.

Is it about opening eyes? Is it about opening minds? Is it about opening hearts? What is it?

Sometimes I think I am bright but for some undiscovered reason I can't find the answer to this question.

If you do, will you share it with the rest of us?

  8. I think this question was asked in the year 210 BC and again in 650 AD and probably every year forever by some dreamer . no one seems to have the answer to this fairy tale even today.good luck!

  9. lets have one language, one form of government and make it a democratic form of government. one system of education, and no guns, bombs, and other equipment that kill humans... we just discussed thing, negotiate, compromise, vote, and then agree honestly and wholeheartedly on the outcome of the majority decision for the good of the majority of society..

  10. Well, as others have pointed out, these are all nice ideas but completely out of touch with reality, and human nature.  Who would pay for free education for everyone?  Who would pay for free computers for everyone?  Microloans for what -- everyone making $2 a day?  To do what?  Where would this money come from?

I realize it's too easy to sit here and criticize ideas put forth out of a good heart, but "Global Peace and Healing"  will come only when everyone knows God.  In the meantime, we should all work for justice and peace in the small ways that present themselves to us every day.  There is no worldwide solution.

  11. How much could those people buy with $2 per day? Also how do you give computers to people with no electricity, and free health care and education to all? Who would fund that? But I mostly agree with the first person and deal with national security first, but beyond our national security, we really can't help other countries to much.

  12. every big aspect starts from the smaller ones.

Global peace is also this way, if we want to achive the GLOBAL peace we first have to achive national Peace and then Regioanl, and finally we surelly will be able to achive global peace.

  13. We can start by learning about each other's religion, culture, language.... Then we can try and be very tolerant of each other.

  14. While I do agree with your motives and your cause is strong, I  just dont see it.  There is simply not enough money or resources for that matter, to cover health care for 6.4 billion people.  First off, even if there were enough resources, they are not allocated or distributed evenly.  There are not enough hospitals or doctors for that matter, in places like China and India, who by themselves constitute more than 1/3 of the world's population.  It does make me a little sick though.  There is enough food made world-wide that each person could eat 3000 calories per day (which is enough to make everyone very fat).  We live in a free-market capitalist economy.  The system does not favor the poor, it favors the wealthy and ambitious.

Micro-loans would never work either.  While the idea is nice, it is also idealist.  Where would you get investors to cover that many people or come up with that much money?  None, so you move away from the private sector to country loans.  Would large nations like the U.S. or organizations like the EU be willing to shell out the trillions of dollars?  They already do.  Microloans are highly risky and unstable because there is a significant risk of non-payment and basically these investors would be losing their money.  They know they would from the beginning and would never agree to it.  We dont even have a system today that could possibly track that kind of monetary investment.  Would there be restrictions on what they could spend on?  Yes.  We could also see the states of the people we are giving money to simply take it away in terms of "processing fees" or something of the sort.  It just wont work.

What do we need to do?  Nothing.  For those of us in the majority, we see that there are significant problems in the world.  We also realize that even if we pooled our resources together, we could not reach the goals that you are asking for.  It is just too ambitious.  What we need is to wait.  In a capitalist system, everything theoretically works out.  I know this may sound cruel, but it is a fact of life.

30,000 people die each day from starvation (mostly children).  If each person in the United States alone gave up one dollar, that would mean $10000 for each person.  That would be enough to hopefully save them, or postpone it at least.  But, we would have 30,000 people the next day, and the next day and the next day.  By the end of one year, you are looking at roughly 11 million dead.  We could save them all with a mere $110 billion dollars in taxes (per year).  We dont even spend that much on our own healthcare.  And would you get a president elected that would be willing to do that kind of a tax increase?  No way.

What we need to do is let the system work itself out.  Yes people will die, but people have been dieing for decades.  Eventually in a free market system these people will pull themselves up.  I know it may sound callous, but I have no pity for a country or its people who cannot control the size of their population or spend money to improve its infrastructure.

  15. Global peace? I suggest we aim at national peace first, then take it from there.

  16. I appreciate the optimism but I feel a little more research could be done as to how you plan to acheive your stated solutions! Balancing the interests of one society, let alone the global community, seems impossible. Making real progress exists in the form of failure and success; and in reality, this usually takes the shape of more failure than success! A lot of c**p goes in too one tiny morsel of good. So, please state plans, not ideas, becuase ideas only exist in one's head, and that doesn't help anyone!

    Cheers!
