Seriously....we have our personal views on politics, on who is right for this country and who isn't, but why cant you all have CONSTRUCTIVE debates about all this without getting vicious and dirty and dragging in all kinds of nasty remarks etc.?

Do you really think name calling is going to elect a PRESIDENT or VP?

I mean I know it's been scandalous this business on the Republican side....and I KNOW it's a hard pill to swallow thinking a "black man" might win an election.

But I think you people have fried your brains in TVLAND here.

Let's get real a moment. Obama firstly is an AMERICAN and has devoted his life to American Politics and to helping people here in America.

So he practiced whatever religion he practiced. The poor guy was probably trying to understand his roots and become a better human being in general. You can't deny your roots!!! NONE OF US CAN!!!

And for McCain, yes he served in a war and has all kinds of experience etc. but you should be looking at the politics of republicans. For Gods sake you came out of 8 years of GWB and if you are still a fan of all that then GREAT.

But really you think to need hard and clear if this TIME FRAME is right for republicans...it seems to me from all I've ever seen in politics (and it works this way for us here in Canada too) is that it needs to swing back and forth sometimes for everything to stay balanced.

Personally, I think you guys need MAJOR CHANGE in more ways than I can begin to list.

But it's your business.

I just think you should all practice a little more civility.

You would get a lot more accomplished.

So cool those heads down a little and think straight!

This is quite possibly the most important election of your LIFETIMES.

In fact I KNOW IT IS.

Your decision affects what happens elsewhere in the world (thus my business) and you should not take this lightly!

Perhaps if you realized what great responsibility you would also realize the power that your decision will shape for future generations.

Keep all that in mind as this election progresses.

  1. Hard pill to swallow thinking a black man might win an election ?

I have fried my brains ?

Why did you have to say those things ?

  2. Ignorant people take pride in acting out, the best thing you can do is ignore it.

Moreover, many of the people here aren't interested in what you think, they just want you to agree with them. Waste of time and very pretentious if you ask me

  3. block trolls, report abuse....otherwise you're chasing your own tail.  Just the facts mam.

  4. First of all, you had me bored after the Ist paragraph of you ranting. I am afraid most people will skip it also. Secondly... This is what makes it all interesting! If you want everyone to get along and be nice, then may I suggest a trip to heaven?

  5. We need to be. First of all all the slandering i here is from the left dragging in family's. Maybe we should drag Obamas family through the mud,i mean the left does it. Point is family's should be off limits. I think there are alot of children on here...

  6. 200% agree with you

  7. it is crazy in here, people get offended if you do not agree or have different views, i really do not think it is going to change at all. sleep well.

  8. I agree.  I asked a serious question a few days ago, and I was called nasty names.  I just wanted some opinions, not to be called names.  I guess there are ignorant people everywhere.  It hurt my feelings, I was just asking a question.  Now that I said my feelings were hurt I'm sure to open the door to more name calling. Oh well.  Night.

  9. I believe the 2000 election was the most important election of our lifetimes.  Had Gore been elected we never would have gone into Iraq and over 4,000 service members would still be alive.  We may have captured Osama bin Laden by now.  We wouldn't have almost $4 trillion added to the National Debt and have to borrow half a billion dollars a year to pay for our spending.

Neither candidate will be as bad for the country as Bush was.  Hence, this election is not as important as the 2000 election.  The damage to the country has already been done.  We need to elect the person who can best repair the damage.

  10. did you actually expect an answer

  11. lol

  12. Compromise & agree to disagree that we all have different points of view

  13. You're speaking to a select group of users, sweetie, and in about an hour, this question will be buried beneath dozens if not hundreds of questions asked under this one, never to be seen again.

I think the better idea is to just agree to deal.

  14. Well, for one thing, I hate GWB's politics.  He's a fanatic who tried, and failed, to enforce religion on this country.  He convinced Congress to declare a war that we did not need--after being advised by Powell and McCain that there were not enough troops, and going into Iraq would cause more harm than good.  He, a man who dodged the draft (along with his equally fanatic VP, who shoots people in the face and then gets them to apologize to him.) didn't listen to men who have been through war.  This is the reason Powell left the administration.

Let it be known:  The Republican is on record now as admitting to hating GWB.

I do not agree with Neo-cons on most of their dribble.  They give Republicans a bad name.  Same as extreme libs give Democrats a bad name.

I do not agree with Obama's ideas because he and I do not share the same vision.  I have more of an issue with his most fervent supporters going on the attack all the time, the same way I have an issue with religious fanatics and general morons who are locked in the 19th century and call themselves Republicans.

People who pray for rain (see:  James Dobson) and those who are glad Hurricane Gustav made his presence are insane.  The people who caused a ruckus at the RNC and the DNC are also insane.

People need to stop making their parties look bad.  Period.

  15. I agree we really really need change. My only concern is that Obama will not give us enough change, but he is our best hope at this time.

The Republicians have a good candidate, but I'm afraid he will be more of what we are suffering from now.

  16. Let's not forget, Obama also devoted his time to being friends with the slum lord, Rezko and associating with a radical terrorist, Ayers.

As for being civil, I agree.

    McCain/Palin 2008!

  17. I agree.

But it's hard to control yourself after you see 99 questions with lies like "muslim" attached and drug dealer, when it's the pot calling the kettle black.

I'd agree to a truce, but they take kindness for weakness on here. They smell blood. They are nasty little monsters.

Good Luck with your venture. I hope it works. I like to keep nice meaningful debates also.

  18. Republicans smear first.

Then Liberals smear and Republicans can't take it.

Get over it, and take it in stride. Don't worry, I'm sure that Yahoo Answer will return to it's normal Conservative sidedness after tomorrow, so you have little to worry about. Everyone knows that the Yahoo moderators support you guys.

  19. Dude....

I agreed with some of your comments,

but more importantly do you look anything like your avatar picture

    (I think its Sofia Loren)

    WOW........." So how you doing".....................

  20. Everyone acts civil in this topic, but after you just become a beast

It really matters on the topic starter, they set the mood for the thread.

  21. Eve,

Your question is close to a rant, but I think you make a good point.  Unfortunately, many people do not have a political opinion; politics is their religion or belief system.  It is part of them, and parting with that belief is akin to giving up an arm, leg or other body part.

Many blindly worship candidates of their party and feel the need to demonize the opposition.  I must say, having watched some of the Canadian political "debates," by and large American debates appear rather tame by comparison.

People from every party or belief system often post mean-spirited and denegrating questions and answers.

Many of those posting on this site are probably younger than Governor Palin's daughter, and do not have the maturity to take your advice.  As a result, a thick skin is needed at times.

Although there is no way to know for certain the age of a poster to this site, often the grammar, spelling, and punctuation give them away.

I have been tempted and occasionally have succombed to the urge to reply to offensive posts in a negative manner, but I usually attempt to use reasoned and somewhat more articulate responses.

I may not agree with your choices, but I certainly don't hate you or those you support.  I would recommend that posts that violate YA policies with impunity be reported.

I don't think that what happens on this site, however, will really impact the world.  I also find it hard to beleive that our choice for president, considering the checks and balances we have in our government, will impact my life, your life, or the rest of the world as much as everyone seems to think.

Most of us will continue to live our lives the same way, complain about the same things, and find joy in things having nothing to do with our vote or the outcome of the election.
