How can we do to travel to Texas from California?

We would prefer not to fly(too expensive) and we also do not want to ride in a car or train because that gets uncomfortable. I was thinking that if we can be comfortable on the road, we will ride in a car or something. There are three of us(14, 16, 16) and we are departuring from Los Angeles, CA going to El Paso, TX. We don't want to spend too much because we aren't rich(well, our parents aren't) and we are going to see our dad. What can we do to get there safely, budget-friendly and comfortably?

You poor guys!!  What a horrible time to have to travel. I've actually made that trip before. I drove from Central Texas to Riverside. It's a LONG trip!!

With gas prices as high as they are, check out Southwest Airlines because it might actually be cheaper to fly if you have to go that far.

But since there's three of you, if you split the cost, it might be cheaper to drive. And maybe safer.
