  1. I would HIGHLY caution you to think that move through.

    As soon as you do that, guess what?  You can no longer paint, remodel, or do any exterior or interior improvements/changes to the property any longer without permission from the local historical society.

    This can SIGNIFICANTLY affect the marketability of your home.

    You know what we call them in the real estate industry?

    The hysterical society.

    I had a historic home ONCE...I will NEVER buy another one.

    Biggest PITA.

    PS:  I had a friend that had a large tree branch fall through the roof of her home during a storm and her entire roof needed to be fixed.  It took the "hysterical society" 5 months to approve the roof...and it cost my friend THOUSANDS more than that job had to because she had to keep patching the roof b/c she wasn't allowed to fix it without their approval.

    If you can live with c**p like that, then go for it.


  2. ask the "historical society" of your city

    or county; start there.
