Question:

How can we get the govt. to enact a nation "do not mail" list for junk mail?

Everyone hates getting junk mail in the post. A national do not mail list for junk mail, similar to the national do not call list, would save thousands of acres of forest each year.

It would also save us hundreds of millions of tax dollars every year, because the postal service would have less mail to deliver (and the perhaps they could do a better job of not losing important mail in their system).

Seems like a no-brainer, why hasn't someone in Washington already done this?

  1. the no call list barely works why would that? the post office prays for junk mail in order to make money because email and textn has killed the need to use the post office

  2. Actually, I simply call the people who sent me the junk mail and tell them to remove my name from their mailing list.  Legally, they are required to stop mailing you if you ask them to.

I get almost no junk mail anymore.

Stop looking to the government for answers to your problems and your life will get better.

  3. That's a good idea. Until then, we as individuals have to do our part - call the companies to remove our address from their distribution lists. I have been quite successful in stopping the catalogs. The next thing I will work on is to stop the credit card companies from sending me the cash advance checks. :)
