Question:

How can we help my husband sleep?

I am 28 weeks pregnant and my husband is not sleeping at night. He gets almost to the point of dropping off but then he comes back round straight away. He gets maybe an hour in the morning but that's it. He's had about 3 hours in the last 72h.

We read about it, and it may be hormonal (related to my pregnancy). He's not depressed and he has no anxiety about the baby.

He doesn't want to take sleeping tablets but he can't go on like this.

What can he do to help himself sleep?

  1. I like to solve puzzles to distract me and make my brain tired... my favorites are crossword puzzles and Sudoku.

Or try a warm bath and/or some warm tea or take a warm water bottle or warm heating pad to bed.

I have a friend who yawns and does deep breathing to relax...

Daydream about a favorite event in your life and hopefully that will turn into a nightdream!  Good luck!

  2. Try having a look at the Bach Rescue Sleep Remedy in the link below. I have found it to be excellent when I can't sleep.

  3. When i cant sleep i dont force myself to go to sleep, i watch some TV until my eyes are tired.

  4. Stock up on deli turkey and makme him turkey sandwiches before bed with a big glass of milk this should help him naturally fall off to sleep.

The turkey has ltheanine in it if this dose isnt high enough he can

buy in the sleep aide isle in any walmart a sleep aide with the activingredient from turkey Ltheanine look on the label of ingredients

for this its the stuff from turkey that makes use guys lethargic and sleepy. Also this was the case when I was in the hospital for surgery

last january the E/R nurse saw I was not able to sleep she gave me

a dose pill of benidril its a hayfever antihistamine but it makes everyone who takes it for hayfever as a side affect sleep I had

some of e most restfull sleep after one pill of benidril its over the counter and very safe and not addictive and its for stuffy noses

and itchy eyes and a side affect is its very calming and allows you to relax enough to sleep deep. And the Emergency nurse says they are so safe and non addictive the can use to dose babies in smaller doses

with juice to calm and allow them to be more confortable and sleep

there are allot of causes of non sleep but if you massage your feet

and self calm himself down the feet relax the inner muscles and

if the body is really busy and tense the relaxing massage of feet and stomach and and neck massage from some other than himself and

a scalp massage from forhead to neck and shoulders will relax him to

help enter sleep fast his feet are the center of the organs inner

tension. Lastly lying on a bed without covers placing a heated

blanket slightly dampened and heated in the dryer for say 3 minutes

will help him when placed over his core body mass across his stomach

and down the hips to the knees will help anyone sleep for this

heat across the middle and hips makes you relax entensely and

if all else fails he knows what puts all men to sleep right off.

have fun and try the turkey sanwich first. cheers.

  5. Try separate beds

  6. Its possibly caused by anxiety.

  7. Nobody wants to get radiation treatment, either, unless properly administered to destroy a cancer. I do earnestly advise him to ask doctor for a Serapax script. He will be permitted to get 25 only. He takes one an hour before retiring and he will have a wonderful sound sleep. He is not risking his health or taking any chance that he will become addicted.

Until then, a mug of hot chocolate or cocoa before bed might be a comfort to him. you too. Are your nights cold? Make up a large soft woolly scarf to wrap around the had and cover the sides of the face. That is a great help; too. Better than chocolate, even.

But if he has only had a couple of hours sleep in the last three days, he is a zombie. I hope he is not driving while he is like that. He is liable to pass out at any time if he is.

He knows what the sensible thing to do is. It's up to him.

    Over and out.

  8. Try to get Paul Wilson's little book of sleep. I used to suffer from insomnia and it was a life saver

passion flower, hop, lemon balm or limeflower tea will help. Also hide the clock. Seeing it will worry him about how much sleep he's losing.

  9. Advice of a doctor may help

  10. maybe he has insomnia (a sleeping disorder) you should go ask your doc whats going on. because thats definitely not good.

  11. I think the first 5 words of your statement answer your question.

But seriously, if he doesn't want to take sleeping pills, tell him to swallow his pride. That, or he will eventually just collapse of exhaustion ( his body will get so tired that he won't have a choice but to sleep).

  12. There's that Sleepytime Tea that you can buy at Publix with the extra sleepy $hitt in it. I put 2 bags of it in one cup and let it sit for 20 mins. It does the job. Can't lose by trying it...

    Remember...

    Publix or whatever supermarket and...

"Sleepy Time Tea" thats the actual name of the brand. Don't forget to get the extra strong one!

  13. My friend takes yoga and says to tap the balls of your feet together.

  14. As men, we get pregnant with you girls. Let the fatigue whoop his butt for a while so he can appreciate your side of things.

  15. Well I don't think it could be hormones because he's not the one pregnant. Maybe he is getting anxious about the baby and just won't admit it.

  16. Well there is a natural pill that will help him sleep its called melatonin not to sure if that's how you spell it but try that its derived from the hormone that you body produces to help you sleep and there is no side effects like all the other sleep aids. Good luck and hope you can sleep better
