  1. give them 1000 dollars and make them come with you to the store so they wont spend it on liqueur

  2. how about collecting blankets from people and then passing them out to poor people?

  3. help develop a way to help themselves, bring in seeds crops that can be grown during the winter.

  4. donate at your local donation box, it's usually in store parking lots.

  5. give them food. clothes and shelter!!!!!!!!!

  6. a food fundraiser

  7. there are facility's for these unfortunate people but it sometimes don't do it , does it?

  8. do fundraisers for local churches and shelters and missions who help people.

  9. Wonder which country you are referring to.  Ask the government to start helping or start a campaign of  your own through a recognised charity.

  10. Thats a hard question, there is always going to be poor people as long as there are seperations of classes. Unfortunatley helping that amount of people is difficult. Many of them get blankets and then trade them or sell them for drugs or booze. This isnt the case for everyone but I think instead of trying to cover up the problem fixing, lets get psycological help for all these people so we can allow them to become working citizens of society. All these homeless vets have issues due to the wars they were in, that cant be fair! So my answer is hold a fundraiser to pay for services not for material items.

  11. Bring out all your old blankets, clothes and shoes, put them in a bag and make it available all the time so when ever you see people who need it just give it to them. Or you could ask all your friends to donate their unused clothes and bring them all to charity or any NGO (non-goverment organization) that primarily helps less fortunate people.

  12. we can help everyone in America just by taking the billions of dollars we are waisting on the war in Iraq and give every American 1 million dollars to do as they please with.

  13. it is soo hard because alot of organizations just take what u give them. very untrustworthy places. u have to find a good non profit org. and really check them out. or u could bring them to shelters. or just hand them out or place bullitans around saying if in need of help or free blankets or somethin handout any way u do it, it still doesnt cover the amount of people in poverty but thats really kool u think that way to help!! peace

  14. Just do your part and encourage others to do the same...

You are not going to get responses to call for money over the internet I can almost guarantee you that right off the git go.

  15. give them one of yours

  16. Many of the homeless people have underlying problems that have to be dealt with.  Addiction to drugs or alcohol or mental illness.  Just giving them blankets or gloves does not deal with the issues of why they are homeless.  I think we need to tie aid to programs that will address the issues that cause them to be homeless.

  17. Try doing a general needs drive. You can raise clothes, toys, food, and hygine products for people that need them. Get the names of homeless/needy families. Decide how much you are donating and what. For example are you giving each person a bag with things they need like clothes and food in it. Make flyers/ads and post them with permission in your town. Make sure they say to call your number so you can check-off what you are buying. Collect all the things and sort them and put them in a backpack or bag. Distribute them to the families. Good luck! Sounds like a ton of work but VERY rewarding. E-mail me for more information.

    FOR SMALLER PROJECTS:

    1. Keep a few new, clean pairs of socks in your purse. When you see a homeless person, hand them a pair of socks.

    2. You can also carry around a non-perishable food like a cereal bar to offer it to a homeless person. Sometimes it’s better than giving them money.

    3. Organize and plan an event for homeless kids, like a movie night or dinner.

    4. Get your crew together and spend the day beautifying the shelter. You can do everything from painting to sprucing up the play area. Just be sure to get approval from the shelter prior to showing up at their doorstep.

    5. Donate new or used jeans to Teens for Jeans.

  18. raise some money and build a home for them

  19. Emaan, there ARE such organizations, particularly in Kabul. Have you contacted the National Area-Based Development Program (NABDP) or the National Solidarity Programme (NSP) at the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development  (MRRD)? Every  year they have programs to help the Afghan people deal with the horrendous weather conditions of winter -- contact them and find out where their relief efforts are going this year and how your specific area can receive assistance.

Have you contacted the UNDP office? They may be organizing something as well -- even gathering donations from international staff working in Afghanistan.

Have you tried the local office of CARE International, which is across the street from Blossom Hospital?
