Question:

How can we keep our house from making us sick?

We just moved into our house 5 months ago (which is a house built in 1957 & use to be a house that was falling down, as we found out from our neighbors). Now my husband is on 3 enhalors & my 7 month old son is on a resperator every time he gets a little cold. (This is gross, but true) I constantly have nasty green boggers in my nose which itches constantly. It must be our house because none of us have had issues until we moved into it. My questions are these: 1. How can we tell its our house? 2. How do we fix it? We just bought it and we can't afford anything too major. We just had to remove 2 trees that fell during a storm & fix a major sewer back up (which came into our house!! Yuck!) Help me if you can, please. I'm beginning to feel like we bought a money pit.

  1. Go back on the previous owners.  If you bought from a real estate, they may be liable.   Contact an attorney right away. Take pictures of everything.

    Good luck.

  2. Get a good home inspection and make sure it is checked for mold.
