  1. You can make a cat stay on your property!    If you don't want it wandering around the neighborhood,  keep it inside.

    Cats are not dogs!

  2. If you are able to feed him/her then thats always good. Maybe if you could hold the cat you can give it frontline for fleas. Maybe a hartworm pill. See if maybe you can even take it to a Vet and have it gets shots. And if you can do all that Im sure you should have no problem taking the cat in. But I would make sure its no one else before you do all this. Good luck.

  3. It depends. If you live in a good town without a lot of traffic, you should let your cat run free. It will come home as long as it doesn't venture too far and gets lost which is extremely rare as most cats like to stay on their own territory. If you desperately need to keep your cat inside like if there are a lot of birds of prey or cars or other cats that would be violent to yours, try cutting off all ways for your cat to get outside the house. Keep windows closed and don't let it out. Your cat will soon adapt to being inside and you won't have to worry about it going out! If all else fails, get a fence or an electric fence. The electric fence does not harm the cat but it just gives it a quick jolt to surprise it. You put a collar on it and if they get near the underground wire, they will hear a beeping noise. If they go too close, they will get a shock. Your cat will soon learn that it shouldn't go out of the yard and it will stay in. If all of this fails, I don't know what you should do but just let your cat learn about its surroundings and adapt to them in its own way.

  4. Keep it inside.

The average life expectancy of an "outside" cat is one year.

It's impossible to keep a cat within a given outside area.  They are genetically programed to roam and hunt.  They have very little fear and a great curiosity...thus they have short lives outdoors.

  5. You can keep it inside the house

  6. You mean it's an outdoor cat and keeps wandering off?

If that's the case, there isn't much you can do except keep it indoors.

There probably are some type of collars that give a mild shock when the pass your fence (you'd have to obviously have it tied to monitors around your perimter).

That's probably more trouble than it's worth, plus indoor pets live much longer on average.  Why not keep it indoors?
