How can we know what to believe anymore?

Please, look at this with me from a Neutral standpoint, forget your political views and opinions.

The world is in a state of turmoil. Vital resources (such as oil and rain forests) are being sucked out of the planet at an ever-increasing rate, for one reason: Profit. Or, "Necessity" you might say? True, mass consumption has now become a "necessary" medium to live the materialistic lives that we live in this Country. Resources will not last much longer. People do not know, do not care, or simply deny this, when the evidence is out there, if it is looked for. And real change is not being made, because we bicker back and forth with ourselves over things that are comparatively insignificant. Accusations and mis communications are abundant, as you can see from this section of Yahoo! Answers. So how do we know what to believe, when our first instinct is to be skeptical and defensive about anything the "other side" has to say? Why can we not organize and make real, lasting change?

  1. the problem is that most people who are calling for change, are calling for a change to socialism. They don't want to fix the flaws and improve what we have; they want to make us like Europe or some 3rd world country.

  2. Actualy, there is enough oil in antartica to last 500 years.

Oh, and as to your question, it's hard to believe anything anymore without actually going there to see it yourself with the corruptness of politcs.

And also, we are already preparing for when oil runs out (and even before then, so we can get better gas prices, haha!)

Ever heard of eathanol and hydrogen fuels?
